"Oh..." the boy's expression turned gloomy immediately. "I hope it will be back soon."
"I am certain of it." Sirzechs was a lousy liar, unfortunately, or rather, fortunately, his son didn't recognize this. "Please, can you return to your room? Don't you have unfinished homework?"
"I finished all of it!" The boy was honest and innocent, too good for this liar's world.
"Ah, I see, then, please, can you wait outside? We have adult things to discuss with your Onee-san."
"Umu! Bye, Onee-san."
"Take care, Millicas." After waving to him, the boy left the room, leaving the Gremory duo alone.
"Haah!" Sirzechs shook his head as he sighed, almost looking beaten.
"Just what made you put that car up for a bet like that? Isn't it a unique piece that cannot be replaced? Don't you often boast that it is made from handcrafted components and assembled manually by the best craftsmen and mechanics of hell? Didn't you say it is irreplaceable?"
"Yes, I know. I told you: I miscalculated." Sirzechs clenched his fist and teeth, looking down defeated. "That... human! One moment she..." Suddenly, the phone on his table started to ring, making the Satan turn his head towards the red phone.
"Pick it up! I can wait." Rias urged him, crossing her legs and arms under her chest.
Sirzechs neglected his duties as a Maou because of her for too long already. Any more time spent on her instead of her people would be a sin against devilkind. As the heiress of the Gremory family, she can't let such a thing happen!
"I see, thank you. Then please, wait a moment." Sirzechs picked the phone up, hearing out the one who called him. "Hmm, I see. I see. I will be there as soon as I can."
"I take it, it was important."
"Yes, very urgent indeed." Sirzechs nodded, sharing no further detail.
"Then I'll hold you no longer, Onii-sama. Please, don't neglect your duty and don't abuse your title, or I will tell Onee-sama about it."
"Ahhh...! You really are merciless. Have a little pity on your brother!" Sirzechs offered a distressed expression, nervously adjusting his tie.
"Then, don't neglect your duty." Rias berated him strictly, smirking devilishly.
"Haah! Fine! I will contact you as soon as I can. And Rias, look out for that Gillian figure. She might be more than she initially shows."
"And yet, you made a deal with her and sent her here. Very wise indeed." Rias made a sight, shaking her head, concerned. "Nii-san, you and your deals..."
"I asked her to offer her help. Whether you accept it or not is up to you. Nothing more, nothing else. Take care, sister. And good luck with your rating game. Don't forget! Give it your best! We will cheer for your victory! I will send positive energy!" Sirzechs offered a thumbs up and his biggest smile he could muster.
"Thank you. I'll do my best. Take care, and be careful."
With that, the line was cut, and the Gremory heiress leaned back in her seat.
"Haah... What a day..."
Rubbing her exhausted eyes, Rias recalled the accident that happened today, how Koneko was still shocked after she regained consciousness. How she lost control and almost killed Gillian!
"Yet, she was not even angry... did she not fear for her life?" No, that's absurd! Everyone fears death! Most likely, even the gods! Then why was she so dismissing so close to death? Why does she encourage Rias despite almost being killed by her? Why? Why was she dismissive about such a serious matter!?
