"Mother..... please say something.... please help me." A shadow moved across the walls of the ruinous shack that housed that impoverished and miserable family. Across from the wall sat a boy, covered in filth and soaked in tears, piss, and blood. "Mama", a weak voice whispered from behind the cover of a sheepskin blanket. Dashing with speed and murderous intent the shadow lunged forward at the cover hanging in the door. A gruesome slash ripped through the skin as a huntsmen's knife would through a tenderloin. Silence followed, and a sickly whimper emerged from the boys' mouth. A cold hand gripped his shoulder and pulled him out of the room, the last image there was the blood streaming from the corpses into a silent pool. The boy struggled a little as his whole life disappeared behind the door.
Saeviel lurched forward, he had been having bad episodes recently. The memories, the flashbacks. They have become worse recently. Once he had been able to ignore them, to push them out and to the corners of his mind. But for whatever reason, they have come back stronger and more painful than ever. The vivid images seared into his mind's eye left him in a waking daze for some time after waking. He stood up aside from his silk blue bed, grabbing a thin orange robe to cast about his lean body. He felt the ache of his muscles strain as he stood on his legs, he had trained hard yesterday in swordplay. His new status as an emperor afforded him the money to find the best trainers to improve his fighting ability. He was determined to grow better than him.
He had trained him, yet he had abandoned him, told him to fuck off and leave. He had done just that and it was the best and hardest decision in his life. Things have changed so much since the days before he met them.
He walked over to his table standing in front of the doors to the balcony of his suites. He grabbed a tall crystal pitcher incrusted with the sigil of a sun rising. His god. Lthander, all this was Lthander's doing, he works in weird often bizarre ways but yet all this was his and was only being borrowed by Saeviel.
As he poured the fresh water into a similarly encrusted glass cup, he felt the sun's rays hit his bare chest as they beamed through the parted curtains. "Ahhhh" to be blessed so soon after waking was surely a sign for a good day to be in store.
He finished the glass with one large glup and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. He fastened the lace of his robe about his waist and began walking towards the balcony when a knock on the door pulled him away from the thought.
"Your Grace!" A young page boy appeared in at the entrance to the Imperial suite, dressed in the pink and orange colors of their God the page was quite nervous with the task he had. "Your Grace, the council has urgent matters with which they wish to discuss with you." So early, he pondered the reason for such an early emergency. Certainly something must have emerged that is of great importance. "Then let us go young lad, say son what is your name? I haven't seen you about this palace." The boy seemed too stunned by the question. They continued walking ahead down the long corridor and neared a large sweeping stairway flanked by marble pillars covered in golden sigils of Lthander. "My Name is Eldrin... I'm from Mia-Birose actually. My dad was a member of the cult of Shar." He hesitated a moment before a sudden wash of fear swept over him. "Not that I am! You and your temple help take me in after the Shar temple was raided by those people. I'm very grateful your grace, please don't take offense from my outburst!" Saeviel couldn't help but let out a short chuckle; the poor kid was clearly not expecting such a high detail job on what was obviously his first day. Saeviel stopped walking and turned to look at the boy and bent to his knees. "You have nothing to apologize for young child, you are as welcome and need here in this palace, this kingdom as anyone else. Everyone has a spot in Lthanderia." He paused and let his emotions get the better of him. "And never speak of those people in too high of regard; they are normal living beings like you and I. All expect one that is. They reached the bottom of the large staircase and made their way through the main commons area of the palace towards the spiral tower that housed the council chambers.
