I'm not sure what woke me up but I could tell that something  felt off. The silence..  there was something about the silence that was bothering me.

I slowly rose from my seat. I must have been asleep for a while because my leg felt like a limp noodle. I looked out the window. The dark sky was now cloudless and all I could see were a few stars and the moon peaking from behind the tree. I leaned my head on the cold window. Sighing, I walked over to my bedroom but jump back when I hear something fall to floor in the bathroom. My heart felt like it was going to pound out of my chest. My mind tried to think of a plausible reason for the noise but all I could come up with was some kind of horror scenario where I would end up dead.

I stood there in silence for what felt like minutes. My ears picking up only the sound of static. For. Few seconds, I listened. Silence.. not a single other noise.

I slowly began to walk towards my room. Perhaps I left my toothbrush too close to the edge of the sink. Or maybe my shampoo slipped. Once at the door, I quickly shut it and lock it.

"That's odd," I murmur.  "Why is it so cold in the room?" I crawl into bed and cover myself up with my warm blanket. As I lay on my side and begin to close my eyes, I feel the blood drain from my face.

My window was open. Again.
