Chapter 26: Knowing When To Stop

Thiyya: " I'm done, I don't care anymore"

Maya: " Guys, can you fill me in?"

Maanaa: " Sorry, we were so busy trying to save her we forgot to check up on you"

Maya: " Is the baby going to die?"

Aliaan: " Yes and I think she went there to save it"

Maya: " Oh no!"

Aliaan: " Exactly, had she read the books thoroughly, she would've known Utopia takes back the life that it gives"

Ziri: " Wait what? I didn't read that!"

Maya: " She's going to lose her mind now"

Thiyya: " Can we go in and out without making a wish?"

Maya: " Yes, and it shouldn't hurt us, but Utopia will still try to lure us in"

Marco: " We should wait!"

Aliaan: " I'll go in! I won't wish for anything, I'll try to get Luz back but that's it"

Aliaan goes into Aaraa but to his utter shock, he finds Luz by the wishing tree holding a deformed baby with clear quartz eyes, and a wing instead of his right hand, Aliaan starts breathing heavily and goes into panic mode.

Meanwhile, Luz is holding the baby crying her eyes out, and thanking Utopia for her baby's survival. Aliaan runs to her and starts shaking her.

Aliaan: " What have you done? Why do you always do what you want without involving us? you are clearly incredibly stupid, what makes you think anything you choose to do is a good idea?"

Luz: " I have done what you failed to, save our, no! MY baby, he is mine and I'm naming him Uto and I'm gonna raise him without you, he's my family now"

Aliaan: " You dumb bitch! you can't take it with you, it belongs to Utopia now, it stays here and now you wasted your last wish, you could've wished to heal your uterus so you could have other babies, but no, you chose to ignore us all, despite all the evidence that you following your dumb ideas never led to anything good, but this is my fault too, I made you out to be something magical, I made Earth be something magical, Maanaa was right, this place is the worst and your people, most of you are idiots! I can't help you now, it's too late, you never learned that there's a time when you need to step on the brakes, instead of marching forward, and now I am more certain than ever that you and I are toxic for each other, and for ourselves, I hope you realize you are toxic to yourself and others but I doubt you will, you were never the heroine you wanted to be, you were the villain, your friends forgave you and gave you a chance but you ruined it again, there's no going back now and you'll have to live with it"

Despite Aliaan's emotional rant, Luz doesn't seem like she's listening to him, it's like she's in a trance, she got up and went towards the door with the baby, ignoring everything he said. Aliaan looked at her with a mix of pity and disgust as he saw blood dripping down her legs.

Luz goes through the gate and shocks everyone on the other side, she looks down her arms and noticed the baby isn't there so she goes back and brings the baby but every time she passes through the gate it disappears, her friends realize she's going insane so Aliaan knocks her down with a device that he flashes in her eyes.

Maya: " What in the mortifying hell happened in there?"

Aliaan: " When I got there, she had already given birth to a deformed baby, it was blind, its eyeballs were made of quarts and its right hand looked like a baby bird wing, I don't know how to describe it but it looked like it was suffering, it was so painful to see, I think Luz has lost her mind, I don't think she can recover from this!"

The friends stand there not uttering a single word for a good 30 minutes, the events were too shocking, too sudden, too unreal for them to process, how did it come to be this way? What should they do next?

A crippling fear and confusion spread around the room, sighs can be heard from time to time but no one dares say a word until Maanaa decides to stand up.

Maanaa: " We can't sit here forever, there's something I can suggest but you guys might find this unethical, it is considered so in Aaraa too!"

Marco: " What is it?"

Maanaa: " Altering her memory!"

Xeelai: " I don't know about that!"

Aliaan: " It can be tricky but it would help tremendously!"

Thiyya: " Is it safe though?"

Maanaa: " It is but that's not the tricky part!"

Maya: " Where do we begin? what factors determine which parts to alter? how far can we go? how little? how much? what gives us the right to?"

Maanaa: " Exactly why I said it can be unethical"

Ziri: " But in this case it is necessary, I mean if remains like this she'll end up in the psych ward talking about aliens with wings? come on! they will deem her crazier than we do!"

Marco: " I agree; her case is extraordinary, so it's only right to take extraordinary measures for her!"
