Flashback to 2008 (both sixteen):
Amelia's POV:

We were having a school prom so me and Neymar were going as friends, considering I never really talk to anyone else.

We spend most days with each other, playing football or just hanging out. We usually chill at his house as my family isn't exactly the greatest. His on the other hand are amazing. I used to be really jealous of the fact he had loving and supporting parents and a sister he could turn to when things went bad. However with age I've learned to be happy that he has that rather than being selfish. His family is basically my family anyway, Nadine (his mum) is so caring and calls me one of her own. His dad, Neymar Sr, is also just as caring and calls me his daughter as well as Rafaella. Me and her get on so well and sometimes gang up on Neymar for fun until I end up folding and feeling bad, apologising to him which she gets annoyed at. I'd consider her my sister.

"Melia! Are you almost ready?" Neymar was knocking on the bathroom door as I finished touching up my makeup and putting my jewlery on.
"I'm not getting changed, you can come in," I said laughing at his hesitant knocks. He smiled as he looked at me in my long silky dress, usually you probably couldn't tell I was a girl as I was always in boys clothes and playing football which was frowned upon by many.

He picked up my necklace to put it on for me but I took it off him, trying to finish the look myself. I struggled with it before looking towards him as he had an 'i told you so' face and I rolled my eyes and laughed. I held up my hair as he did the clasp of it up.

"You look nice, Linda" he said, putting his arm round my shoulder as we walked from his bathroom, down the stairs to be greeted by his family, who were waiting for us with about thirty thousand cameras.
"Thanks, you look alright as well I guess," I said laughing.
"You're so nice to me aren't you?"
"Somebody has to have the job of humbling you," I said, erupting into laughter for a second time as his mum ushered us towards the living room for them to take a photo of us.
"Well I wouldn't want the job to belong to anyone else," he smirked as we were greeted by his dad and sister.

"You look gorgeous Amelia!" Rafaella said hugging me.
"Yeah, Ney you look great. I'm so lucky to be related to you," Neymar said sarcastically, waiting for some attention. I rolled my eyes as he laughed.

"Okay come on, you two are going to be late. Stand together and let me take a photo," Nadine said.
Neymar put his hands around my waist as I had my arm around his shoulder and a cheesy smile on my face. The flash went off twice and we were rushed out the door.

Time skip halfway through the dance.

"This is awful," I said to Neymar as we watched the couples grinding on each other as if there were no tomorrow.
"What, you don't wanna join in?" he joked as I rolled my eyes for the second time this evening.
"Let's get out of here," I said, getting up as he held my purse for me and we weaved through the crowd and out the door.

We walked through the dirty streets of our town in a comfortable silence.
"Where are we going princesa?"
I smiled, running ahead a little bit until I reached the bush that I hid my football in. My parents would flip if they knew what I spent my birthday money on so I kept it hidden out here, for whenever I wanted to play.
"I don't think what you're wearing is very practical for this," Neymar said, laughing as he caught up to me in the empty street. His eyes glistened as the moon reflected in them.
"So what?"

I took my heels off and played in Neys shoes which were far too big for me but he didn't want me running barefoot so he played in socks. He could be sweet sometimes.
I did three kick ups and an around the world before kicking up to him. We went back and forth, trying not to let it touch the ground before we collapsed into laughter after I kicked it too far, making Neymar go running.

I sat cross legged on the floor with my back up against a grimy building but I didn't care, I felt at peace with the crisp evening air entering my nostrils as I played what I love with the person that I love. In a friend way of course!

Once he retrieved the ball he sat down next to me, our shoulders touching. After a few minutes of a comfortable silence, he spoke.
"What are you thinking about?"
I sighed, "Do you think we'll always be friends?"
"I hope so. I know that I joke about it but I honestly wouldn't know what to do without you."
I blushed at his words but thankfully the darkness of the night was able to hide it. I leant on his shoulder, smiling in response.
