An Unexpected Host

+ CHAPTER 1 +

"Mk! Wake up!"

A voice sounded nearby, Mk blinked, slowly opening his eyes, he still felt beyond tired.

"Huh..?"

Mk looked around, he was in his room on his bed. He sat up, seeing Mei right by his bed, her eyes lit up as the brunette sat up.

"Oh-em-gee Mk! What happened?! Are you hurt? Did the demon bull family get to you?!"

Mei hugged Mk from the side painfully tight, Mk coughed a bit, looking over at Mei.

"I'm fine Mei, really!"

Mk patted Mei on the back. He was quick to decide he'd keep what'd happened a secret, until he figured out what it was at least.

"Okay, because we looked for you for like forever! And we found you passed out in an alleyway!"

Mei let go of Mk, genuine worry in her eyes.

"Pigsy said you have the day off, I don't think I've seen him so worried since the time you almost died at Flower Fruit Mountain!"

Flower Frui- Wait, Flower Fruit Mountain! He remembered now, he needed to tell Monkey King about this..!

"Really? Crazy. Uh- Anyways, tell him I said thanks, I'm gonnaaa go."

"What?! But you look so tir-"

"I gotta do something, okay? Okay byee!"

Mk got up quickly, waving and darting out of his room, then Pigsy's Noodles.

Before Mk knew it, he was all the way at Flower Fruit Mountain again, he walked up to the waterfall, putting his hand to it.

A glowing gold symbol appeared on the waterfall, but it suddenly turned red and Mk was forced away from it at high speeds. He hit a tree and fell to the ground. The brunette let out a yelp, rubbing his back.

"OW! Okay, geez. What the heck happened there!?"

Mk stood up slowly, adjusting his bandana and narrowing his eyes at the waterfall. He walked up to it and tried again, the symbol showed again, but this time it didn't turn red, the waterfall opened up to the Water Curtain Cave, which Mk walked into.

"Monkey King! Something happened last night. I need to talk to youuu!"

Mk called out, cupping his hands around his mouth and walking around the cave. When there was no response, he glanced over at the Monkey King's cabin a little way's off and started walking towards it, rubbing his eyes to rid himself of the drowsiness that clouded his mind.

When he was a mere few feet away from the cabin, Wukong appeared behind Mk, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Hey bud! Heard ya needed me, I was a bit busy with something else but, y'know, not busy anymore"

Mk let out a yelp, turning and taking a quick breath.

"Oh geez! You scared me! Okay okay, moving on, something weird happened last night and I think it might be important."

"I heard. Well, go on, tell me what's up."

"Well, I was walking down an alleyway, trying to get home, when I heard this crash behind me and saw this weird box on the ground. I opened it. There was this weird blue blob inside and it jumped on me and went down my throat-"

Mk spoke quickly, Wukong just nodded as he spoke. There was a moment of silence before Wukong spoke up.

"I don't know bud, there's a spell I can do to check if you've been cursed or possessed if you want."

"Oh please do!"

The brunette hugged his mentor tightly for a moment before letting go and taking a few steps back.

"Okay kid, just don't move, it might hurt just a little bit."

Wukong held his hands in front of himself with his palms facing Mk, he closed his eyes and a gold symbol appeared under Mk, who tensed up a bit.

Wukong's eyes turned gold as he opened them and the symbol moved up, through Mk until it reached the top of his head and vanished, it burned a bit, but nothing serious.

The sage's eyes went back to normal and he shrugged.

"Nothing seems out of the ordinary to me. Maybe you were just tired and it was an illusion?"

"What..? But- But I felt it!"

"Listen, kid. If the magic says nothing's wrong. Nothing's wrong."

Wukong walked up to Mk, putting a hand on his shoulder, grinning.

"Okay then.."

Mk just looked at the ground, the thought of what had happened still gave him chills.

Wukong, noticing Mk's deminor, gave him a warm smile, doing his best to put on a comforting voice.

"Now, how about some early-morning training to get your mind off of it?"
