Staring into his vivid ruby eyes, you grip your claymore tight, and look ahead towards the enemy. Cyno dashes toward the eremite as you jump into the air to attack from above. He inflicts electro as you use your pyro ability, causing a ton of damage. Good, the last ones almost gone.
You and Cyno were both bombarded by eremites while on a mission for the academia. This is the most you two have ever encountered and it was a workload to get them off you.
Cyno uses an electro ability, causing the eremite to fall unconscious. With the last one finished off, you continue deeper into the desert.
"Who would've known there would be that many..." you said to cyno. He grabs your face to inspect for injuries, sometimes getting a little too close.
"Well, we are on their turf so it's not completely unexpected." Cyno replied. He continues to inspect your body for any wounds. He sees a scratch on your leg and gets some bandage from his bag to wrap around it.
"Sit" he demands. You follow, knowing your best interest is in mind. He wraps your injury securely yet gently. As he tells you that you two should continue on your journey, he helps you stand back up. He pauses, holding your hand for a moment while looking into your eyes. He looks as if he is searching for something in them. He lets go of your hand and begins to walk to the mausoleum. You follow close behind.
"Cyno, may you pass me the water, please?" It's been about an hour of constant walking and you were getting quite thirsty. Cyno nods his head and reaches for the water jug yet not to his avail, the jug was empty.
"There seems to be no more water left... I'm sorry (y/n)" he's never apologized to you before so you were surprised to hear that come from him.
"It's okay Cyno, we're close to the mausoleum anyways. Maybe we can get water from a cactus if we see one?" You didn't know how to do that but you know cacti have lots of water in them.
"I'm not quite sure how to do that, but we can definitely try. I don't want you to be dehydrated. It could restrict your performance in battle." You find it sweet that he's concerned for you. It flutters your stomach a little to think that he cares about you.
You two walk a few moments more and within 30 minutes, you reach the mausoleum's walls You can hardly tell though because of how dark it is outside. You both decide that resting for the night is the best option. You both go to one of the nearby buildings to use as shelter and set up camp there. Cyno goes to a cactus that was nearby and somehow gets water from it. You aren't entirely sure how he did that, but you were grateful nonetheless. He walks back to our makeshift camp and sits down.
"Would you like to use my bag as a pillow tonight?" Cyno offered.
"No no no, you use it. If you don't mind, could I rest my head on your lap?" Of course you used this opportunity to be close to him, you both need warmth anyways. He pulled a thin blanket out of his bag.
"It would be better if you laid next to me so that we can share the blanket. I don't mind if you lay on my chest instead." You being you, you blushed and accepted his offer.
"That would be great. Thank you, Cyno." You both laid on the sand, surprised by its warmth. You rest your head and one hand on Cynos chest while he wraps one arm around you for 'extra warmth' you like to believe he's just trying to cuddle with you. You would never complain about that though.
Somehow you couldn't sleep. You slowly got up from Cynos grasp, praying you didn't wake him. You grabbed your small bag, which held a now full water jug, a book, and your lyre you got during your time at mondstat. Unbeknownst to you, Cyno had woken up from when you moved away from him. He listened intently as you played a blissful piece on the lyre. He was enthralled with the beauty of the piece. Even if he doesn't know the name, he can still bathe in it's gracefulness.
Once you finished playing, you turned around to see Cyno sitting upright looking delightfully at you.
"That was enchanting, (y/n)" his eyes shined from the moonlight. He looked so bewilderingly majestic. He crawled over to where you were sitting and embraced you in a hug. It was definitely unexpected, but you were not the type of person to refuse affection. You hugged him back just as tight and stayed there for a few minutes in silence. The silence was not heavy nor was it awkward in any way. It was just peaceful.
"I think we should get some rest now. If you need help sleeping, I will do whatever will help."
"Alright, thank you, Cyno." You both got back on your makeshift bed and laid together in the night. Cyno rubbed your back and caressed your hair until you fell sound asleep. Of course, he slept with one eye open to make sure nothing came to harm you.
As the morning sun fell upon your eyes, you awoke to Cyno reading the book that was in your bag.
"Finally awake? Good morning." Cyno said to you in a sleepy, groggy morning voice. It was quite attractive actually. But there's no need for that now. You have a job to do.
"Good morning, Cyno. Should we get going?
"We aren't in any rush...why not stay and sit with me for a while?" Once again, you weren't complaining. You love spending time with him.
"I'd love to... I'm just a little worried. Shouldn't we be going?"
"We're an entire day early on the schedule, remember?"
"Ah... I suppose your right. I'll join you." You got out your lyre and played something that sounded like Mia and Sebastians theme, you weren't sure tho. Cyno hummed along to your playing. Lord, this man sure is good at everything. His voice is angelic.
You two sit for a while, enjoying each other's company until you realize the sun is right above your head. You spent half day just by Cynos side. Cyno gets up to grab ingredients from his bag, you don't know what he's making but it smells quite good. After a few minutes or so, he hands you a (f/f) served on a leaf. You have no clue where the leaf came from but you thank him for the meal anyways.
After both of you are done eating, Cyno tells you that you both should head in and start your research. The main thing that the academia wanted you two to study were the different types of puzzles in the building.
"Be careful, and don't be dumb. Some of these puzzles are dangerous. I don't want you to get hurt."
"I know Cyno, I'll try my best to solve them correctly but I can't make any promises."
You used your pyro vision to light the torches in the ground. One of them was sort of hidden so you didn't exactly know what to do.
"I think we'd need a Dendro vision to make that one visible." Cyno suggested.
"But we don't have one..."
"So then we can't solve it, that's okay. I'll write it down." He was so gentle with your feelings. It made you so happy to know that he cares for you. No one really ever did. It was just people from the academia who praised you for your work, but then again they never really cared. They marked you out as smart and then never tried to help you when you needed it. But Cyno... he was always there for you. When you first met the general, he helped you reach a book that was a little bit out of your reach. The second time, he covered your change for you when you were short on mora buying food for yourself. He's always lending a hand to you. Always there like a guardian angel.
You mind was wandering. You weren't watching where you were going and you stepped on a patch of sand that was covering a trap. You foot was penetrated by a sharp blade in the ground. You yelled out in pain and Cyno ran to where you were, clearly worried.
"What happened??? You need to sit let me patch you up. Why weren't you paying attention?" It made you a little upset that he was slightly yelling at you, but you knew he was just worried. You vision was getting blurry, and suddenly you feel yourself getting picked up off the ground. Cyno carried you to a small set of stairs and set you down to put bandage on your foot. He took your shoe off as gently as he could but it still hurt like hell.
You don't remember passing out, but you wake up to being carried on Cynos back out of the mausoleum.
"You're awake."
"Yes, I'm sorry. How long was I out for?
"It's alright, don't apologize. You were only out for 5 hours. That gave me time to try out the other mechanisms in the area. Don't worry, I never let you out of my sight."
"I wasn't worrying, I have a lot of trust in you."
"That fills me with joy. Thank you for trusting me. Though, I think you should get more rest. We are only 2 hours away from the academia, so when we get there, I'll take care of your wound better."
"Of course, Cyno. I'll try. Thank you"
"Anything for you, (y/n)"
And with that you close your eyes, and drift away into your mind.
The next time you wake, you feel to be in an unknown bed. You try to open your eyes, but the room is too bright, so you keep them shut. You move around to get comfortable, and you suddenly feel a presence in the room.
"I'm so glad you're awake..."
You reluctantly open your eyes and to your relief, it's tighnari.
"Cyno brought you here a few minutes ago, you just missed him.
"Oh... that's such a shame..."
"About your wound, since it went through your entire foot, you won't be able to walk properly for a day or two. It would be longer, but with your vision, you heal faster than normal people. I can let you go with crutches if you'd like or you can stay here. It's up to you what you want to do. Though I'd stay here if it was me..."
"Then I'll stay for today. If I feel fine tomorrow, I'll go. Could you ask Cyno to visit sometime today?"
"Yeah, I'll let him know." Tighnari left with a goodbye and you were left alone.
It's been a few hours since you've seen anyone and you're feeling quite lonely. You used this time to think about things. Like how there's only a few people who care enough about you to understand when something is wrong, or if you need help. You think about Cyno. You didn't know if he was coming to see you today or not. You hoped he did. You missed him. His enveloping aura, his scent, the say he speaks to you, just everything about him. You hear running in the distance and suddenly Cyno's figure appears in your vision. You were overjoyed to see him.
"(Y/N)! I'm sorry I didn't come earlier, I was stuck with work... please forgive me." He was so cute hehe.
"It's okay Cyno, I'm just glad you're here now. I missed you a lot." It looks like he's blushing a little. You can't tell if it's what you said or because he ran here...
"I missed you too, (y/n). I'm glad you're okay. Did Tighnari tell you when you could come back home?"
"Yes, I've decided to stay for today and if I feel well enough to walk tomorrow, I'll take my leave."
"Then I shall stay here with you tonight. To keep you safe." He started to lay on the ground next to the bed.
"No no no, come up here and lay with me. I'm sure it's a lot more comfortable than the floor."
"Are you sure you want me to?" You nod your head
"Well alright then."
You moved over a little so that he had room on the bed. He immediately wrapped an arm around you.
"(Y/n)... you know I care deeply about you. So much that it pains me when something happens to you. I get jealous over any person that looks your way. You're what constantly runs through my head. I can't get you out."
"Why are you telling me this, Cyno?"
"I love you, (y/n). I love you so much."
"Cyn-"
"I'm sorry, you don't have to love me back. I can leave if you'd like."
"Cyno, I-"
"It's okay I understa-" you grab his face and press your lips onto his. You didn't know you had the confidence to do something like that but here we are. He immediately kissed back and held onto your face gently. You wrapped your arms around his neck and put one hand behind his head. You pushed it closer to you to deepen the kiss. You played with his hair as you backed away.
"Don't cut me off so much... I love you too, Cyno"
