junior year, how exciting right? wrong. i was not excited whatsoever. i hear the beeping of my alarm as i stand up, stretching. i sigh and walk over to my dresser, wiping the sleep from my eyes. i grab a random pair of jeans and a shirt, throwing them on. i walk to the bathroom, looking at myself in the mirror. i grab my brush and start brushing through my curly hair. i throw on some slight makeup, just mascara and a bit of blush. "are you ready isabella?" i hear my mom call from downstairs. i grab my bag from my room and basically run down the stairs. i give my mom a quick smile as i run out to catch the bus. the bus pulls up at the end of my driveway. i get on and sit in my normal seat. i guess i must've scared my best friend because when i sat down she looked at me like she had just seen a ghost. Dahlia Johnson, my best friend since like.. diapers. our moms knew each other so thats how we met. "goddamnit Izzy you scared the shit out of me." i laugh a bit and apologize. we pull up to his house. Mason Suzuki. he steps onto the bus and my stomach fills with butterflies immediately. he looks at me and gives me the generic 'i know i'm hot' smile with a wink that he gives to every girl ever. he sits in the back with all of his friends, like normal. "god he's so fine." i say, not even meaning too. Daliah nodded in agreement.
we make it to school, me and Daliah are one of the first ones off. we take a seat at our normal table with our other friends. Olivia Stock, a shy girl with olive skin and long dark brown hair. and then there's Grey Collins, he's pretty tall for being a junior but honestly its whatever. he has shortish black hair and clear rimmed glasses. i wouldn't say were outcasts, but were definitely not popular. "guys. he smiled at me today." i say, basically slamming my hands down on the table. Grey rolled his eyes and laughed a bit. "you are seriously head over heels for this guy." he looks up from his book for a slight moment, then looking back down at it. "yep, have been since second grade." i've always had a crush on him, ever since we got paired up for a partner project in the second grade. would i ever tell him about it? absolutely not. i looked around for him, seeing him sitting with his friends and who i assume is his girlfriend. of course he has a girlfriend, every girl at Westbrooke High has a crush on him. Harley Meadows, a pretty blonde with eyes like emeralds. he had his arm wrapped around her, his other arm resting on his lap. he's perfect, and WAY out of my league. i guess i was staring because Olivia tapped on my shoulder slightly. "quit staring. you look like a creep." Grey said, his eyes locked on the book he was reading. "i wasn't staring, just admiring." i rest my chin on my hand, still looking at him. the bell rings and everyone gets up, flooding the hallways, trying to get to their classes.
me and Dahlia made it to first period taking a seat in the back. i sat my bag down, and started looking through instagram until class starts. Dahlia looks up at the door, then taps my shoulder aggressively. "what is it-" i look up to see Mason walking in my direction. "is this seat taken?" his voice was smooth and sent chills down my spine. "uh- n-no its not." he flashed me a small smile and sat down, running his fingers through his mocha colored hair. his hair fell perfectly without him even trying. it fell a little bit above his eyes, making his bright blue eyes shine brighter. the teacher came into the room, the door slowly shutting behind him. "everyone take out a pencil and a piece of paper." he wrote something on the board, continuing to talk. "shit.." Mason whispered under his breath. he turned around and his eyes met mine. "do you have a pencil i can borrow? i guess i forgot mine.." i look over at Dahlia before grabbing a purple mechanical pencil out of my bag, handing it too him. "you're a life-saver." he turned back around and started writing.
it was already the end of class and i started to pack up my things. Mason turned around toward me. "thanks for the pencil...." he trailed off, waiting for me to say my name. "isabella, or izzy for short." he smiled and handed the pencil back to me. Mason stood up, grabbing his bag and smiling at me before leaving the classroom. "O M G MASON SUZUKI TALKED TO YOU." Dahlia was basically screaming at me as we were walking out of the class. "yes i know this, im just as shocked as you are D."
i made it to class just before the bell rang. i took my seat next to Grey and shook him aggressively. "Grey you will never guess who talked to me last period." Grey pushed up his round glasses, looking over at me. "Mason?" i rolled my eyes "no it was m- wait yes, that is who it was." i looked at him, confused. "how did you know?" Grey looked up from his book again. "you're loud. i heard you from halfway down the hall." he looked down at his book once again. i suddenly hear snickers behind me, followed by the voice of Harley, his girlfriend. "you know he would never like someone like you right? plus, me and him are practically married at this point." i just rolled my eyes and sighed, my brain every once in a while going back to the beautiful smile he gave me before he left last period.
this took me so long for no reason. but anyways, i hope you enjoy the first chapter!
