"I love you"... those were the last words that the girl said to him before running away crying...
The music was blasting and the lights were shining ; it was the biggest event of the year, The Halo Party. At the last floor of the fortune tower owned by the biggest businessman of the country; Devon Harmour. He wasn't only famous for his business but also for the parties he threw , all this without showing his face. Ever.
Chloë Treaver was invited to one of those parties . She was a young student at Riverbank business school, one of the most prestigious schools in the city, each year some students of this school were invited to the event, and Chloë and her friends had been selected.
"Chloë hurry up we're going to be late" said Gina, Chloë's best friend. They were making last touches to their makeup before going to the party. At 18:30 sharp a white limo was waiting for them at the bottom of their building. It was the first time the girls actually went into a limo so it was a big premiere for them. The outfits for the party were provided by their university; Gina was wearing a long light blue dress with a slit from the middle of thigh. There were 24K gold ornaments on the straps and the belt of the dress. Chloë chose a short black dress with only the left sleeve and the corset decorated with black diamonds.
She was raised in a middle class family so she never really experienced those types of things until she got a scholarship at Riverbank business school.
When they arrived at the tower they got escorted to the party deck at the 150th floor, or mostly known as the top floor. The music was blasting and everyone was dancing their hearts out on the dance floor. Chloë and Gina stayed in a corner until a young man, probably in his 20s came to ask Gina to go dance with him so Chloë was left alone in her corner. About 15 to 20 minutes later a beautiful girl that was probably the age of Chloë went to introduce herself to her. The girl was wearing a red dress crossed on the chest and ombré on the skirt. She had grey eyes and long black hair. Her name was Heather; over the night they became really close. At some point Heather left Chloe to go for a drink, but never came back.
"Amazing ! left alone in a party where I know absolutely no one... Gina, why didn't you stay with me..."
While looking for a place to take a break from the party Chloë lost herself .As she turned a corner, she unwittingly stumbled upon a scene that would leave an indelible mark on her memory. When she opened the room, she came face to face with a strikingly handsome young man. His wavy brown hair framed a pair of captivating green-amber eyes. His white shirt was embracing his body, revealing a hint of his well-defined abs. At that moment, Chloe's eyes widened. The stranger, in a passionate embrace with another girl, seemed caught off guard by Chloe's presence. With an annoyed and rude tone, nearly screamed :
"Get the fuck out of here !"
Even the girl he was holding looked surprised at his reaction.
As Chloe stood frozen in the doorway, the mix of curiosity and embarrassment flooded her senses. Chloe averted her gaze, her face flushing with embarrassment, and she quickly left the room.
After walking for a good 10 minutes alone, Chloe ended up in an empty room that had a 360° view of the city. The view was fascinating; there were a lot of clouds that night so only the top of the tall buildings were visible, the light of the city was lighting up the clouds. The music had nearly faded away and there were barely any lights apart from the city lights. She was no longer on the last floor, but somehow 2 floors lower. In the middle of the room was a white and majestic grand piano. Chloë always liked piano and had taken classes as a kid; and since no one was around she sat down at the piano chair and started to play whatever came up to her mind.
