Aether pov
It was getting late and I needed a place to stay for the night

"I should stay here for the night and continue in the morning" I walked all the way to the so called place wangshu inn and god was it huge, I had to climb flights and flights of stairs

I got a room and checked in, as I was going to my room I saw a familiar looking boy talking to the receptionist but ignored them and went to my room.

"Ugh today was so tiring. I knew I should've took someone with me for this" I told myself when I heard a bit of commotion coming from outside so I decided to eavesdrop.

"Xiao can you please come with me to the city tomorrow." A voice begged the other. "Traveler I said no as an adeptus I cannot go to the city I have work to do." I was so shocked at this because not only was lumine there my former colleague and "best friend" was there. I panicked at the thought. "What if they here me they'll check what happened and I'll be doomed

I relaxed when I heard lumine say fine and stomp away to her room but xiao didn't leave instead he stared at my door. Which ofc scared me.

Xiao POV

I was talking to Verr when I felt someone look my way when I looked at them I noticed someone very familiar from the abyss order but I didn't know who it was at first glance. "Who was that just went upstairs?" I asked Verr because I was curious. She told that it was a guest staying in room (whatever room number you want) on the top floor.

While I was going to investigate this person out of nowhere lumine appeared out of nowhere which annoyed me

She asked me if I wanted to go to the harbor tomorrow and I ofc replied with "I can't go I'm sorry traveler." But ofc she just begged I again just said "traveler I said no I'm an adeptus. I have work to do."

She stomped off and said fine after she was gone I stared at the door and whispered to myself. "Ok let's see who you really are." So I started walking towards the door.

Aether POV

I heard footsteps coming closer and closer eventually stopping right in front of the door so I quickly locked it. The door handle kept rattling so I asked. "What do you want?" The rattling stopped after that, and instead I heard polite knocking.

Xiao POV

I heard the voice knowing immediately that this person was scared so instead I knocked politely and I could sense them calm down a bit.

When they opened the door I was in shock when I saw their face it was. "AETHER!!!" I whisper yelled. I couldn't believe my eyes my crush and best friend was standing right in-front of me

Aether POV also time skip

We were in my room talking to each other and smiling like nothing happened and nothing changed, I hadn't seen Alatus (his real name) in over 500 years and we're still best friends.

By the time we were done talking to each other I already had to leave so I summoned a herald and told him to summon a portal, but before I could leave Xiao asked me this

Xiao POV

"Aether can I come to the abyss with you. Like I mean it's about time I give my report back and plus I missed you" i said shyly not to mention I was blushing a bit but not enough he would notice it.

Aether looked very shocked at my answer and I was nervous like what if he said no.

Aether was about to answer when there was a knock

"come in!" But when the door opened my usual expression In front of people became horror and so did aether's face it was none other than.
