How hard it is trying to forget the one you love

Start from the beginning

As a result, however, he spent the following day exclusively on the road, he had left Chicago very early to get to the Badlands National Park, but thirteen hours of driving was a bit more intense than expected and once there, he just wanted to get into bed.

When he explored the park the next day, all the inconveniences from the trip were forgotten, they had clearly been worth it.

Nevertheless, he was much more looking forward to the next national park on his route, Yellowstone National Park.

He spent two days in Yellowstone and realised relatively quickly that he had too little time to explore the park in its entirety.

Magnus made the most of his time and tried to see as much of the park's beauty as possible.

The sight that met his eyes was breathtaking and for the first time since he had started his journey, he could breathe freely. Here he could lay down all the burdens he carried with him and just be himself, forget for a moment and enjoy the here and now.

Magnus had known, even when he had planned the route out of the blue, that the stay in Yellowstone would be one of the most beautiful, and his ideas came nowhere near the reality.

His next stop was Salt Lake City, where he spent another day and then went to Stanford.

The great salt lake, to which the city owes its name, was breathtaking and Magnus did not regret at all having integrated this natural spectacle into his route.

When he finally arrived at Stanford on the eleventh day, he was glad that he had already thought about renting an apartment in New York.

Of course, he could have registered for one of the student rooms, but to be honest he had little desire to share a room with someone he didn't know at all.

This gave him the opportunity to settle in and get to know his fellow students first, and at a later stage you could always team up with someone and rent a larger apartment.

The first night Magnus spent at Stanford was terrible, he kept waking up with a strange feeling, as if someone was trying to tell him that he had forgotten something important, but every time he opened his eyes he couldn't remember what it was.

As he lay awake in his bed at night, he thought of his future at Stanford, of all the things he could do before the semester began in September.

What he had left behind in New York and whether he should stay in touch with his friends or if it was better to cut all ties.

It would probably be easier to leave New York and all the people he had come to know and love there behind. Yes, it would be better that way, that had actually been the intention of his sudden departure, to forget and hopefully be forgotten.

Even if the thought of it brought tears to his eyes. Would he ever have the heart to forget his time in New York and his friends there? Did he really want them to forget him?

The apartment he had rented was not big, but it was sufficient for him alone. The house rules even allowed animals and he was actually toying with the idea of getting a cat.

Of course, he knew that an animal would never be able to replace his friends, but maybe, just maybe it would help him overcome the pain.

Maybe it wouldn't be such a stupid idea to get an animal, just to have someone there waiting for him when he came back home after a long day at college.

Izzy and Jace had made it their mission to take Alec's mind off things, which was significantly harder than they had imagined.
