When arriving at the docks Soap had gotten up before you and you didn't realise how much you were leaning on him during the flight because when he stood up you jolted to the right to avoid falling into his seat. You unstrapped yourself and got out of the Heli. You boarded the small boat that took you Soap and graves to the rig.

"Shit, shit, SHIT." Graves racked his hands through his hair.

"What is it." You glanced over your shoulder while returning fire on the enemy below.

"The controls are not with the missile."  You looked at Graves with a concerned and worried look.

"Bit of a problem, the controls are not with the missile, what's our move"

You heard a deep authority type voice over the coms. "Find those controls and turn the missile off Graves."

"Yes Shepherd out, Soap, Mav we need to go to the other ship, the controls have to be on there." You both nod and take for the zip line to the small boat below. As you travel towards the boat with the controls on you are briefed by Graves on what to do.

"Let's move out."

You Soap and Graves progress to the first deck.

"Soap, Mav go left and flank them, me and Alejandro will take the right, ghost, stay back and watch our six."

You both proceeded to the left door and open it swiftly. You go to peek and shoot the enemy, until you realised they had more men and fire power against you, you got shot in the shoulder and fell like a ton of bricks to the ground. You shouted out in pain and scooted to the side to avoid more return fire as Soap covered you. You almost thought you saw fear in his eyes as you dropped to the ground

He fired and killed the men before coming over to your aid.

"Mav, are you okay?" The worry in his voice leaking through.

"Yeah, I'll be fine." You replied roughly with a cough

Why did he care? Maybe he just didn't want to lose soldiers at such a time of need.

You got up, grabbing your gun, luckily the shot was on your less dominant side. So you Continued to the controls with soap and graves. You noticed how soap was always watching over you making sure your wound didn't progress into something worse, like he cared about what happened to you. This sent warm bolts of energy down your spine. No one has looked at you like this in...well...forever really. You brushed it off for now focusing on the task at hand.

All three of you pushed up to the second deck clearing it of hostile before moving to the Command centre. Graves got out his tablet and got to work on the missile.

"Shit, we have another problem shepherd."

"What is it Graves."

"The missile is in the last phase of launch, we can't stop it."

"Put in the DAL code and be done with it."

"Yes sir, Out"

"What's a DAL code." Soap asked tilting his head slightly.

"Detonate after launch." You responded

He turned to face you, you were getting fixed up by ghost, a slight hiss left your lips as Ghost helped with your wound. Soap flinched at the sound. Again, he looked almost worried, even Ghost noticed.

"She'll be fine Soap." Ghost told him, not breaking eye contact with your injury.

Soap sighed and helped Graves with the Missile while you got sorted.

Alejandro was always nice to you, he came over  to you and offered support through the pain while ghost removed the bullet.

Soap Almost couldn't concentrate through the sound of your pain but he managed to get through and the missile detonated and destroyed the rig.

You're back at base now, your wound got taken care of by nurses to make sure Ghosts job was good, and to be honest he did amazing.

You started to walk back to the sleeping quarters. You took a detour because you wanted time to think before the lads bombarded you with questions about the mission and your life before transferring to task force 1-4-1. You walked down the airstrip and then the parked vehicles, there were jeeps and trucks of all kinds. You noticed a figure sitting in the back of a truck, their hands on their head, elbows on their knees as their feet placed firmly on the ground m, except for one that kept bouncing, you deemed it due to stress because you have that symptom too.

"Hello?" You called out there leg instantly stopped shaking

"Mav?" Scottish accent trickled into his words, you knew who it was
"Soap? What are you doing out here?" You walked closer to him, you could see his face now under the moonlight of the night.

"Needed air, it's too loud in the dorms."

"I can agree with you I'm that one" you chuckled

He let out a small laugh to, you saw his smile as the moon hit his rugged face, his stubble dark and short, the scar on his eye creased slightly when he smiled. You liked that. It added character to him.

"How's your arm?" He lifted his gaze to yours, your cheeks grew slightly pink

"It's okay, thanks you for helping me back there. I know we started off on the wrong foot but I'd like for us to be friends, how about we start again." You cleared your throat and stood straight, around a hands length from his legs. He looked you up and down with a confusion at your sudden change in posture.

"Hi, I'm Maverick, nice to meet you." You smiled at him, he laughed turning his head away and then straight back at yours, he stayed seated.

"Hi, I'm Soap, you seem very polite, would you like to be friends." He tried to keep a straight face but it was a bit of a challenge for him, his acting isn't great but it definitely made you laugh.

"I'd love to." You smiled at him.

The air grew quiet as both of your laughing fits died down. He looked into your eyes with lust now, his views on you had changed so much in such a small amount of time.

"Y/N?" He looked serious.

"Yes?" You become worried as no one ever really uses your name.

"I don't think we can be just friends."
