"...never was and never will be, you're not real and you can't save me, and somehow you've become everybody's fool," I finished singing and got off the small platform we were using as a makeshift stage.

Every year my dad's friend had a pig roast and this year he finally said we were good enough to play. We've only played a handful of times in front of a crowd, but it was an exhilarating experience. I was the only girl in my band but that was just fine with me except when Alex was being a jerk to me for it or criticizing me for it.

As I got off the stage I heard Alex and Damon, our guitarists, whispering.

"She's a good singer but she sucks at getting us gigs and she's a distraction," Alex said.

"You haven't tried to get us to play anywhere so you have no room to talk. And if you actually practiced you would be better at playing, you can't blame her for you sucking," Damon replied.

I love that Damon and sometimes Sean defend me when Alex acts like this. Damon doesn't like Alex because of stuff like this but he sucks it up because he knows we need him. Even though Damon was defending me, I still felt bad because when Alex said things like that it made me feel like I was inhibiting the band's success when all I wanted for us all to be successful.

I continued to walk away from the stage when my parents came up to me.

"You sounded great, Paige," my mom said excitedly and my dad nodded in agreement.

"Thanks, have you seen Stacey or Sam? They said they'd be here." Stacey and Sam were my best friends from our party group and said that since this was our biggest performance so far they would come, but I haven't seen any sign of them. After my parents said they hadn't seen them I wandered back over to Damon and Sean.

"Hey, Princess," Damon said as he put his arm around my waist. "You sounded great singing that last song."

"You all played great, you got your riffs to sound awesome and Sean's drums were meant to be felt not heard," I giggled slightly.

"You got a little breathless at the end, Peege," Sean joked. I always thought the way he distorted my name was funny.

"At least I don't make everyone go deaf, Sheen." I saw someone approaching me from the corner of my eye and noticed it was Sam but Stacey wasn't with him.

"Um... Stacey was having car problems so she can't make it tonight, but she said she wishes she could've been here. You better not leave me tonight beatch." Sam acted a little gay, but really it was just because his best friend was a girl and he has too many sisters.

"Are you sure she didn't bail to go make out with Zach again?" I sighed and Sam just shrugged.

"Why do you hang out with her when she always bails on you?" Damon complained.

"Let's just finish up the night and try to have a good time." I smiled fakely and walked back up to the stage.

"We are Sweet Sacrifice and we would like to give a huge shout out to Jim Garrit for giving us the opportunity to play tonight," I announced, "I hope everybody has a great time tonight!"

I will be using songs already written and released as the fictional band's songs. This is not meant to be ripping off the original artists in any way.

The song Paige was singing in the beginning is Everybody's Fool by Evanescence. I will try to post videos corresponding with what the band plays.
