The day after

June 27, 1932 

The day after the kidnapping Annie was so scared and was showing signs of PTSD and grace was so worried about it that she went to Oliver's office to talk to him about it

grace what's wrong said, Oliver

grace replied well I'm worried about Annie.

why is she still waking up in the middle of the night because of nightmares? Oliver asks

Grace replied yes Annie is too afraid to talk about it she cries when she wakes up because she is so scared of the fact that the nightmares are reminders of the events that happened. she told me to stay with her last night because she was so scared to fall asleep alone and sleep alone after one of the vivid nightmares last night.

Oliver had thought and says well I mean we can send for her to have a therapist once a week if you think it will help. I mean it would've helped me throughout my life when I lost my family to pneumonia when I was her age.

Grace was surprised says you were an orphan too? well, I guess that a therapist wouldn't hurt to try. I'll talk to Annie and see what she thinks about it and maybe we try to get her to leave her room and take her out on the town tomorrow.

Oliver interjected Grace, why don't we go to the courthouse and get married as we talked about after the engagement today then we have a party for both us and Annie to celebrate the adoption and the marriage and invite all Annies friends and ours as well sometime this week.

Grace says ok let's go.

they came back as both Married and had a ready-made child Annie.

Grace and Oliver walk into the sunroom to see Annie, Punjab, and sandy sitting admiring the flowers.

They ask Punjab to give them some space because they needed to talk to Annie alone.

Oliver reaches into his pocket to reveal the same locket he had engraved with the words "To Annie with love daddy" that he tried to give to her before when she said she had a note that said her parents were coming back.

Grace said Annie we got news about your real parents they died some time ago in a fire. if you want sometime we can go see their graves

Annie got sad but then 

they told her they had both gotten married and had a surprise to tell her she perked up   

Oliver stated that she will still be living here because he had her paperwork signed and said grace and I are now your mama and daddy

Annie overwhelmed with excitement runs up and hugs both tightly then said thanks guys I love you so much then sees the box in Oliver's hand and inquires about it

Oliver opened it and said if you want it it's yours it's engraved too

Annie looks at it and says thanks, daddy

Then the next day

grace tells Annie that they're 
having a huge party for you and daddy and me to celebrate the adoption and the marriage next week and told her to write down any names of people she wanted to invite

Annie excitedly says can I invite my friends from the orphanage

Grace says anybody you like to be there is fine by me miss hannaginn can come too if she had to come with the kiddos

Annie says ok yay I'm so happy what am I going to wear am I getting a new dress

Grace says if you want a new dress we can go to Macy's now if you like

Annie says yes let's go wait mom can I take sandy or do I leave her at home

Grace stunned by the fact that Annie just said, mom 

says did you call me mom?

Annie confused says yes why? what am I supposed to call you?

Grace tells her no. that's fine I'm just so happy to hear you say that for the first time. hearing it I was shocked. 

 grace giggled a little at what she had said 

grace says ok. just go get your shoes and let's go.

Annie and Grace get in the car with asp driving

Annie talks about how she wanted a red dress 

Grace replied that would look stunning on you.

they get the dress and come back home to see Oliver talking to a detective about  Annie and if he was going to press charges against miss hannaginn. he said no not at all.

as the detective leaves Annie asks Oliver what that was about. 

Oliver tells her that he was just asking if we wanted to put charges on miss hannaginn.

Annie yells out no! and runs to her room crying  because she still couldn't talk about the situation yet

she was followed by grace and Oliver 

Oliver said sweetie I didn't mean anything by it I'm so sorry! 

grace said to Oliver in a whispered tone I think we need to get that thing you mention a few days ago.

 Oliver whispered back I agree. I'll call them in the morning. we're not sending her anywhere! it'll be here in Annie's playroom. grace nodded yes

grace walks into Annie's room to comfort and calm her down while Annie cried and is shaken in fear for a while. even though she wasn't in any danger her little body was just still in shock from the kidnapping.

later that night Annie woke up screaming bloody murder 

grace woke up and ran to Annies room to see why she screamed she was sobbing in fear because of a nightmare and had to calm her down

 5 seconds later Oliver comes to see what happened 

Oliver asked what happened? is everything ok? 

grace told him it was just a nightmare and she'll be ok Oliver says I'm going back to bed but turned back around with a smile on his face to see grace singing to Annie to get her back to sleep now thinking about how grace was such a good mother to her and how cute they looked together when she was comforting Annie
