I'm starving here without you, when are you returning?
Y/N woke up to the sound of her door being banged on violently, the girl's pointy rabbit ears perked up her heart beating rapidly out of fear. "Wake up! It's your first day you know!" Her mother said striding away right after, Y/N's once appalled manner was now replaced with bitterness and annoyance. What kind of a person would wake someone up like that? She huffed, rubbing her eyes tiredly as she rolled off her bed and padded towards the door beginning to start her morning.
After the normal activities like brushing her teeth, getting her hair together, putting on makeup, etc. Y/N was finally ready to head out of the house. However before she could exit the room, her father came running in with a bundle of items to hand over to her.
"Listen to me girl, you may be growing up, but those vicious beasts out there don't give a damn about if you're young or old enough." He said, forcefully opening up her bag to add what he had in his hands.
"What do you mean!? Dad, you're gonna make me late!" Y/N questioned, not comprehending what exactly her father meant by this testimony. He seemed to pick up on her confusion, sighing deeply.
"Look youngin', you're going through puberty and the heat is strong out there. Mating season is still here and─" "Okay okay! Yeah yeah, I know! I'll be fine. Bye!" Y/N yelled waving goodbye as she exited the house leaving her father behind. He was going into the last phase of the season and it showed. His face was becoming more gaunt and his hair was going grey at an alarming rate. He knew his daughter could handle herself perfectly well, but he always wanted to protect her regardless.
While on the regular pathway to school, there were different people running past, all of them shrieking at each other in enthusiasm. Some had vast bags slung over their shoulders while others held onto minor objects in their hands. The people encircling her were all striding around in groups of two, three, four, and five, all talking to one another with wide smiles and flickering eyes. They moved with such courage, almost as if they were drunk on life itself. As they continued to run passed her, some of the individuals peeked at her and smiled brightly, causing her cheeks to gleam.
She felt very self-conscious, particularly when it seemed like they were taking notice of her and whispering amongst themselves. What was it about? Did her uniform look unironed? Was her hair messy? Was her bag not cool enough? All of these questions made her head spin until she finally reached her destination.
"Hey, my beloved!!!" A male called out to Y/N. Y/N turned to see who was naming her only to have her mouth fall open and her cheeks bloom chill-red. There he stood, dressed in a long-sleeved white blazer with skinny black jeans, and a black cap covering his small Tussock-colored dreads. In addition to this, he was holding a large box in his hands, his other arm wrapping around his waist. It looked as though he was trying to appear cool in front of the other kids around him, but instead, his attempts made Y/N's heart pound faster.
He looked...really cute.
The boy's bow-shaped lips stretched upwards in a grin upon seeing how flustered she was. "Uh, hey, have I seen you around this school before?" Y/N asked, trying to act as professionally as possible. Her voice cracked as she spoke, but the guy didn't seem to mind.
"Possibly," he mused, leaning forward so that his nose was hovering above hers. "I'm sure we've met somewhere else before, though. You look familiar~" His smile grew bigger as he leaned back, his arms falling to his sides.
"Well, uh, I guess I should get going then..." Y/N muttered, turning around to walk away. She heard the boy call out to her again, but she dismissed him. Never let a man distract you on the first day! Y/N thought to herself quickly getting into the building and running to her newly assigned homeroom.
Once inside, she breathed out heavily, letting out a fresh sigh of relaxation. She made her way to the seat closest to the window and set down the bag she was carrying. Looking down, her eyebrows furrowed in curiosity and slight concern.
"You're late," a soft voice stated. Y/N turned around to view a tall boy who looked to be well-built, looking down to see his expensive shoes, and glancing back up to notice the well-maintained pompadour with two small, curved spikes in the back. He was standing near Y/N's desk, his back pressed against the wall with his hands tucked in the pockets of his pants. "Josuke? What are you doing here?" She asked, placing her hand on her chest. How did he find her anyway? Had he been following her this whole time? Her thoughts were interrupted when Josuke stepped closer. He was staring at her as if he hadn't seen her in year's a huge grin was on his face. "Oh my god, you know me?? Y/N you know who I am!?"
Y/N took a step back "Well yeah? Everyone...knows who you are in this school. You know?" She tried to sound nonchalant.
He laughed softly and walked back to his original spot, continuing to stare at her. "Yeah, I guess I do."
It was silent between the two for a few moments until Y/N cleared her throat and spoke up again. "So, uh...you need something from me?"
"My Fujifilm Instax. I gave it to you when school was done. I want it back."
"...oh..." she went through her bag handing over the camera back.
"Thanks! I'll see you around!!" Josuke beamed a smile at her before walking out of the room. Right before she could finally sit down the bell rang loudly, a rough groan leaving her mouth.
This was going to be a long, long school year.
