*Link*
I groggily opened my eyes to bright blue sky. Mist hung low to the ground, coating the grass in a frosty light.
What the... Where am I? What did those... Fox demons do?
"See? I knew something was up, Ama...! Amaterasu?" Where did she go? I could've sworn she was with me when the foxes teleported me away.
"Link... Can you hear me?"
What the-- "Who are you?" Not again with the voices... I nearly went insane last time... "Where am I?" How am I even fine right now?
"You are safe. ... Look around you. ... Do you know where you are?"
Of course I don't. The clouds are covering everything. But then again... "Show yourself!" I noticed my voice echoes, yet his doesn't.
"I understand if you don't trust me. But I cannot show myself yet, Link." What... How does he know this much?
I crouched, readying myself to pounce."You know my name, too? What else do you know about me?"
A soot-covered wolf assumed a position a few feet away from me. "Look around you, Link... What do you see?"
"I keep looking and all I see is - a mountain..." Almost directly in front of me was a large volcano, with golden rocks here and there up until its peak.
Funny, I was positive there was nothing there earlier.
Farther off to the left was a lake, with a waterfall flowing water in. Ice crystals dotted the land here and there and became more noticeable the more I turned left. Snow capped mountains dotted a section of land, hiding an old castle in its peaks. I kept circling counterclockwise, and I saw a huge desert, unlike any I've ever seen.(That could be because I've never flown above Lanayru before.) It covered most of the land below. Dunes encased in mountainous areas blew lazily along the ground. Finally I saw a forest - a huge expanse of trees and growth. Quite honestly, the view was beautiful.
Whatever I'm looking at.
The sooty wolf stepped forward. "Look down... I'm sure that will stir your memory."
I did. Below me was a town, with a large castle at the end. Blues and whites danced around, bringing a sense of tranquility over everything. Just like... "Hyrule Castle. This- You- How?"
"This is Hyrule, ten years before you began your journey. Ten years before Zant gained his power, before Midna became your companion, before Zelda even knew you.
"I am able to show you this because of the portal that took you here. It took you into the past, nearly a generation before you slew Ganondorf. Because of my... Origins, I can communicate with you in this way."
Wow. I've never even imagined Hyrule could be this big! "So... Who are you, and why did you save me from being turned to stone?"
He winced. "I didn't exactly... Save you. Your body is still encased in stone. This is your spirit looking down on Hyrule. Oh- Before you jump to conclusions, you are not dead. I pulled your spirit from its vessel using parts of the Fox Demon's magic."
"So how can I get-- woah, wait a second, I don't even know who you are."
"Don't you remember?" He stepped back.
I shook my head.
The wolf shook its fur and it illuminated, obtaining a soft golden glow. His eyes turned red and the right closed.
I don't know what he means. Remember him? I've never seen him in my...
All of a sudden, it struck me like a thunderbolt.
The Hero's Shade.
...
So, we meet again.
