"Yes that's correct Nat. She has some form of the Super Soldier Serum injected in her but it's not the same as we've seen in any of the other known subjects" he explained slowly.
"Ну отлично" (Well, great) I sarcastically brought out which gave me a side eye from Nat. Bruce decided to ignore whatever I had just mumbled and continue with his discovery. "Your cells are rapidly regenerating themselves, it's so incredible to see" he said mesmerized by the numbers on his computer screen.
He noticed my confused face and managed to slow down for a moment. "It means that not only will your body heal itself ten times faster than any normal human, it also slows down your aging process considerably" he tried putting it in a way I'd understand.
All I could do was stare at him with an open mouth, apparently inviting him to explain more. "Your physical attributes are a little difficult to estimate as we'd have to run more tests, but they seem to exceed your body's limit Alex" he carefully said. Again I needed more than just his vague words to understand what he meant, so I looked around the room for some help.
"It means your body can't handle the stress if you were to use your full potential. You would tear yourself apart from the sheer force you are capable of" the man across me said with a look of pain on his face.
"How much" I asked him as I looked at my hands that were laying in my lap. "It's better to be safe and not push it. Stay under thirty percent until we know more and can help you train to adjust your body to the pressure" he replied as I saw pity in his eyes.
"Anything else" I sighed angrily as Natasha moved closer to offer some form of comfort. I tried to brush it off as I remembered a fourth person present. "Well Witchy, your turn. Let's get this over with" I said as I let my head hang backwards, looking at her from over my shoulder.
"Uh, are you sure" Natasha carefully asked while motioning Wanda to stay where she was. "This was your idea, and now you suddenly don't want it anymore?" I challenged her way, trying to reverse psychology my way out of this.
"No, I still do, but I'm not sure this is the right moment" she hesitated. "Well, I am, so let's do this" I said, annoyed at her caring attitude. I waved over to Wanda who shuffled closer, letting her have my sister's seat, who in turn took her spot by the door. I noticed Nat disappear around the corner but was so nervous about what was coming that I didn't pay it much attention.
"You sure" the woman asked one last time as she moved a bit closer to me. I could see the red mist coming out of her hands which didn't feel reassuring at all, right before I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Ye. Whatever" I quickly mumbled before everything turning black. The last thing I remember was feeling the familiar headache rise to the surface, trying to split my skull as I bit my lip in order to hold back any painful screams.
Wanda pov
I took a deep breath before I looked in her eyes one last time as I slowly entered her mind. I was back in that dark place before being bombarded with thoughts again. Most seemed normal and I tried to ignore them best I could as I didn't want to invade her privacy any more than I already was.
Suddenly I felt a cold breeze blow past me which made my neck hairs stand up straight. I turned around and felt an ominous glare coming from the void yet I couldn't clearly locate it. I followed the eerie feeling, diving deeper into her mind. I could feel the girls conscious losing ground as I entered something else, something that didn't belong there. It was clinging on to the girls thoughts, feeding on them it seemed. It was brooding and waiting for its time to strike, when control was no longer hers.
Out of nowhere a shadow folded itself over my hands and tried to burn out the red light coming from them. I was being attacked like a parasite who had entered a place it should never have come to. The shadows were drowning me in darkness until in panic I severed the connection with the girl and shot up from the chair across her.
She still had her eyes closed, like she was in a peacefully sleeping. I slowly reached out for her, until my hand was caught midair in an iron grip. Her eyes opened and I could see she was not the same person from a minute ago. All life had been drained from her look and I knew what had happened. The shadow inside her had come out and was planning to take over.
I tried to open her hand around my wrist but it seemed to only make her grip tighter. We stood like this, gazing at each other for a moment until the silence was broken by the man standing beside us. "What's going on Wanda. Did it work?" he asked confused at the situation.
I gave him a panicked look before I could feel my arm being pulled towards the girl. "Get Nat" I shouted at him as I continued my futile attempts at freeing myself. The girl was an inch away when suddenly a crooked smile rose to her face. I felt the same chill run down my spine as I tried to activate my powers, however I was beaten to the punch.
As my hands started lighting up red, another hand enclosed itself around my neck and squeezed out all the air left inside. My eyes went wide from panic as I felt my feet leaving the ground right before I was send through a wall with enormous force.
I tried to catch my breath as I laid there in the rubble when I saw a figure running my way at alarming speed. Right before impact I heard a loud thud and noticed someone had stepped in between us. I finally dared to look up, where I found myself staring at the back of captain Rogers, straining to keep standing as he was slowly being pushed back.
I looked around and saw Natasha circling behind her, carrying what seemed to be a tranquilizer gun. Together they tried to restrain the girl, who seemed to have gone feral. Unfortunately their teamwork was easily broken with the sheer power the girl seemed to display.
As Mr. Rogers tried to distract her, the woman was supposed to sneak up behind her, yet in reality it went a little different. The girl noticed her sister coming up behind her and pushed herself away from the man. She swept the blonde's legs out from underneath her, before sending her flying with a kick to the ribs.
The captain tried his best to stand his ground and not hurt the girl but it was hard to pull your punches when you got them back five times harder. They circled around each other for a moment, exchanging blows left and right before the girl was finally slowing down a little. She received a nasty punch to her side, sending her back a couple of meters.
A trickle of blood ran down her lip as she quickly wiped it off with the back of her hand. Instead of charging right in, she took a couple steps back as if she was winding up for something. Before I could alert Mr. Rogers, she took off sprinting his way. Right before she reached him, she leapt in the air and let her body come down on him. The man raised his shield to block the punch but was flung back regardless.
He landed beside me and with disbelief in both our eyes we saw the shield had received a dent the size of her fist. He struggled up, ready to continue when concern overtook him. The girl was laying on the floor, clenching her hand to her chest, wailing in pain. It was clearly broken after the impact and I couldn't ever imagine how badly it hurt.
Neither the captain nor I knew what to do as we stood there silently. It wasn't until Natasha showed up from behind a broken pillar, walking up to the girl in dread, that it felt safe to breath again. She took her in her caring arms, rocking the crying girl back and forth before letting a syringe come down in her neck.
Her sobs were becoming softer as her eyes slowly fell shut before she laid there silently in a pile of debris. Her sister picked her up and carefully walked over to where the med bay was located. There was no trace left on the girl's face of her previous rage outburst as she was sound asleep. "You okay?" I heard a voice say next to me and I jumped up from the sudden sound. Mr. Rogers held out his hand which I gladly accepted as I nodded his way of thank you.
"She... has this happened before?" I stammered. His eyes washed over with sadness as he walked over to pick up his shield. "It's not the first time no. Although I've never seen it this bad" he softly said. I could see him inspecting the damage done to his companion and spotted a sliver of impression as he attached it to his back, "One hell of a punch" he mumbled, probably to himself. "She paid for it" I send back, not being sure how to feel about the girl.
"Why don't you get yourself cleaned up and sign off for today" the man told me as he walked away from the scene, probably following behind Natasha. I nodded to myself and decided a nice warm shower was definitely something I could use right now. I said my good nights to anyone still around and left in the direction of my old room, consumed by thoughts about the girl, trying to make sense what had happened to her. I took my time in the shower, letting the water wash away all dust and doubts before getting ready for bed as my aching body and exhausted mind could use a break.
