Brian (Voice-Over):

"there! Everyone: one, and a two, and-!"

Interior. Monstropolis - Brian and Vicky's House - Evening

And with a blast of sound loud enough to rattle the earth and register as a minor earthquake, the song begins:

Everyone:

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU-!"

Vicky's house, packed to the absolute gills with people, does not sing, rather, shouts, in fact, screams Happy Birthday at her.

Everyone here is at least a little drunk; at least drunk enough to not have any inhibitions with regards to indoor volume level. They really don't care; it has become impossibly loud.

Vicky is sobbing.

Vicky:

(Sobbing) "Y...You-! Y-You...you GuUUuUUYS!"

She's weeping, a complete, unabashed ugly-cry, as she sits at the head of her dining table, a little birthday hat poised perfectly upon her big, fluffy, curly hair, in the lap of her boyfriend, who's also screaming Happy Birthday directly into her ear.

If someone were to witness this without sound, they'd be forgiven for thinking this girl in the blue jumper is being completely harangued by this home full of people, and taking it very badly.

But seeing it with sound, it's clear just how much it means for this girl, who exactly a year ago from today had no one attend her birthday party, to have everyone she loves here today, for her.

In this moment, she understands not only that she changed, but also that she is loved. Really and truly.

As the song ends and everyone erupts in applause. Vicky grips tight onto Brian and sobs into his chest. Brian holds her and caresses her hair, and when the applause quiets down, he kisses her on the forehead.

Brian:

"Happy birthday, Vicky...I love you."

Vicky:

(Crying) "I love you too!"

Vicky whimpers and nuzzles into him, crying softly.

Vicky:

"Th-Thank you...so much, for everything!"

But that 'everything' has an origin story.

Interior. Monstropolis - The Coven's House - Afternoon - FLASHBACK

Hope:

"ELEVEN POINTS!?"

The witches are in their house, on the sofa, watching basketball.

Hope:

"ELEVEN FUCKING POINTS, JAMES HARDEN!? ELEVEN ON FOUR FOR NINE SHOOTING!?"

Hope pounds their coffee table, nearly rattling their bowl of popcorn off it. Joy catches it before it does and sets it in her lap.
