My sorrow sat next to me
And kept staring
Then it bursted into tears
And I kept silent .
For hours I heard him weep
Then wail and blubber .
So again I stayed silent
I didn't know what to say
I was confused
Im being colonized again on my independence day,
Im being left on read
Im being tortured and held .
What am I to you colonizer
Are you here for my land or me ?
Does my body attract you
Does it make you twist and fold
Write laws and commit crimes
Or do you want me for what I have to offer
Not just land
But farms and goods
Forests and rare trees.
You can tear holes in me
Burn my land
For your camp fire
For you to be warm
And I'd still beg you on my knees
To not leave me alone
Unsafe
Im not used to independence
And If you stay
I'll die of hunger
And if you leave
Ill get killed .
So dear colonizer Id rather die
Knowing you're the cause
Then die from another gun
An unfamiliar bullet
That would cause a war
That would lead to pain and sore.
