As I cautiously opened the door, a shrill cry resounded in the corridor. I immediately felt uneasy as I took my first step inside. Though I did not know what was making the strange cries, I had a desire to get any closer. It was dark inside, and it took me a moment to find the light switch. "Is anyone there?" I called out. No answer.
"Hello?" I say one last time. "Come closer." I hear a faint voice. My body moves me forward. "Where are you?" I ask. I hear the floor creak, and I turn my head quickly, locking eyes with a tall, pale woman. Her hair is long, almost touching the ground. "I've been waiting for you." She says, slowly walking towards me.The temperature in the room drops drastically. I feel a chill run down my spine. She stops in front of me, her smile never leaving her face.
"Who..are you?" I asked her, looking around the room. "No one," she simply says, in the strangest tone. "You look hungry." She takes hold of my wrist and drags me to the kitchen. I take a seat in a chair that is located on the other side of the table. I pick up my spoon and examine my meal. "What is this?" I say, raising an eyebrow at her. "Only soup." "Try it out, please," she responds with a sly grin.
I pause briefly before bringing my spoon close to my lips. As I put the spoon in my mouth, the woman raises her head a little and smiles. I finish up the meal and stand up, walking back towards the corridor. "It tasted great. Thanks a lot.
" I smile as I say it, with a nod. "I don't believe I have your name," I enquire before moving toward the door. "Lolita," she responds. "Oh! That's strange, My name-" I stop. She has left. I wasn't aware of her leaving. I don't give it a second thought and start walking home.
