Every Mile Between Us

One july evening

It was a normal evening between Sarah and James,  they met up with their friends Rihanna and Daniel who were also dating,  Daniel was James best friend and Rihanna was sarahs best friend. That's how they met.

James went back to Emma's house after going to town.

About one month ago James had told me that there was one thing he had never told me yet , he said he really wanted to but just couldn't yet , I didn't really understand because we had been together for over 2 months and were closer than ever , he was like my bestfriend and lover in one. I couldn't ask for anyone more perfect than him , and I certainly couldn't imagine my life without him.

We were in the kitchen when I turned to him and asked him to tell me , I moreso told him to tell me as I hated having something between us that I didn't know. He immediately went quiet and looked at the ground beneath our feet. His face dropped and sadness filled his eyes . I took a step closer to him to make him feel comfortable. He fell into my arms and started crying uncontrollably. A million thoughts entered my head , what could it be ? He was not an emotional person , I never saw him cry before at all. I held him close as his body shuddered with each sob. I reassured him and said we should go upstairs to my room. As I walked up the stairs I was so confused and also scared , what had such an effect over him?

We sat down on the end of the bed while we sat in silence for a brief moment. I asked him to tell me and that nothing would ever change how much I love him , ever. He said that this would hurt me and that I would start crying. At this point I was desperately waiting for him to tell me , I couldn't take the uncertainty anymore. Between sobs he tried to form a sentence,  I put my hands on him and told him to take his time,  preparing myself for the worst , I slightly hoped maybe it was something small and he was just being dramatic.  But I was wrong.

Silence 

"I was taking entrance exams"

My entire world broke down infront of my eyes , a million emotions ran through my body . He didn't even have to explain , I knew exactly what entrance exams theses were . It was for an army school in his home country , he always talked about joining the army . I never thought this would happen.

I broke down in tears as I felt my heart crumble to a billion pieces. I fell down beside him , crying in his arms. We laid there for what felt like a lifetime expressing our sadness to each other . Our entire past nearly 3 months together flashed before my eyes , all the simple moments seemed so important now.

Why us ? We were perfect , or so I thought ?
