Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
"There you two are! I was wondering where both ran off too." Chip smiled, Rainbow and I groaned as our break time was rudely interrupted. "Come on now I want none of that attitude! You are taking a break, when you know it's nearing rush hour and I should tell you off for such but I'm feeling kind today."
"We did get someone to replace Chubby and Jaza." I interject, Rainbow hummed in agreement.
"Would you like a gold star for that?" He joked.
"We would love one." Rainbow rolled their eyes, when a gold star was suddenly slapped onto both of our foreheads.
"There you go!" We both just stared at him in silent disapproval "What? You said you'd love one." Both of us let out another annoyed groan.
"How long have you been waiting to make that joke?" I ask, pinching the bridge of my nose.
"I think it's best if I don't say." He looks away and smiles sheepishly.
"Well since you're here we have some questions for you." Rainbow interjects the peeling of their sticker and slaps it on my forehead. Great, I'm a sticker holder now.
"A questionnaire?" He asks semi excitedly.
"No." Rainbow shoots him down, and he pouts at this.
"Why did you ask Miracle to do my job when she's working under Chubby?" I ask.
"Darling, are you mad that I gave your job away to someone else?" He had shit eating grin on his face and I wanted to slap it off.
"That is not what I said." I said through my teeth, he knew I hated it when he would call me pet names in front of others. He knew it really grinded my gears and he enjoyed watching me holding back from lashing out at him.
"Then would you care to elaborate?" He pulled a red leather chair closer to us and sat down cross legged.
"Chubby handles firearms, that's her expertise, right?" I stare him dead in the eyes, he nods once "You assigned Miracle to train under her, correct?"
"Yes, yes, you don't need to ask me if I've understood the demands I made." He said slightly annoyed.
"It's not my fault I have to check considering you tend to act like a 5 year old most of the time." I bite back at him.
"Watch your tone." His eyes narrowed and grew a bit cold.
"Are we actually going to have this conversation or not?" Rainbow interjected, I jumped in my seat, I might have forgotten they were there.
"May I continue with what I was saying?" I ask, all he gives is a slight nod of the head prompting me to finish what I was getting at. "If you assigned Miracle to work directly with Chubby, why not have her aid Chubby in firearms? Instead you chose to have her fulfil what would be my duty." There was a small pause, Chip uncrossed his legs and lounged back into the chair looking up at the ceiling. Rainbow and I waited patiently for an acceptable answer.
Finally he said "I don't see what you're getting at."
My blood boiled at this comment, he was choosing to hide the answer from us and for what reason?! What reason does he have for keeping this information? He always tells me everything, well mostly everything... Could it be because Rainbow is here? No, that's stupid this question involves one of our new emplo-... Teammate.
He stared me dead in the eyes and all I could do was stare back, my eyes narrowed to slits. Was he doing this on purpose? The staring contest was interrupted by a clearly bothered Rainbow who groaned and stated that we should head back to work as rush hour was in full swing now.
I begrudgingly got up and put back on my tie and sleeveless vest. Chip remained sat though still staring up at the ceiling obviously lost in thought. Rainbow exited the room and as I was about to close the door I simply said "You're going to give me answers, whether you like it, or not."
I shut the door behind me, quickly groomed myself in a nearby mirror and headed back downstairs to continue my job.
An hour went by and people were starting to leave or retreating to their rooms for a night's rest. I was saying goodbye to a small group of guests when out of nowhere a clearly distressed Jaza sprinted up to me.
Without another word they grabbed my arm and dragged me away, I didn't even have the time to ask what was happening. There are two possible reasons though, one someone got gravely injured or the plan backfired in a horrible way. Either way this was a distressing sight.
I forced myself to stop as running through the Casino was quite tiring, I was catching my breath and so was Jaza, they were trying to say something yet they were so winded that I failed to understand them instead I blurted out.
"What's happening?! What's wrong?!" I grabbed them by both shoulders
All they could say was "Come now!" between long pants.
And there we were sprinting once more, we burst through the Casino's revolving door and we were out in the night.
"Jaza, tell me what's wrong!" I demanded, they pointed over to two figures. I narrowed my eyes trying to make out who it was, when I did though my eyes widened.
As I was staring at the horror before me, I turned back to look at Jaza not having noticed their very bloody clothes and the numerous amounts of scratch marks.
"Get inside now." I tried to keep my voice steady and assertive, but I could hear the fear and panic in my own voice.
"How, there are people everywhere, I already took a risk booking through the Casino finding you and returning!" Jaza proclaims, bunny ears drooping.
I placed both hands on Jaza's shoulders and forced them to look at me "Listen carefully, here is what you're going to do. Although in a panic they stared me dead in the eyes awaiting my next words "Around the left side of the Casino there's a series of bushes, one bush climbs up the wall slightly, you have to push all that foliage out of the way and it will reveal a trap door. Go down there, once down you have to take a right turn then two lefts. Finally you will see a set of stairs that will lead you to a room, in the room there will be a switch, flick it and it will lead you to Chip's office."
"T-That's a lot to remember." Jaza scratches their arm and lowers their gaze, I click my fingers and their gaze flicks back up to me.
"I know it's quite a bit of information, there is one last piece though. Once in Chip's office I'm gonna need you to go to Chip's laptop and access the sprinkler system that will empty the Casino then we can properly take care of you three." Jaza a little hesitant nods.
"What about Chip won't he be furious?" Concern laced in their voice.
"I'll handle him and I'll send Rainbow your way in case you get lost." They pause staring off into nowhere, the scratching on their arm becoming more aggressive by the second "Jaza you have to go, now."
And just like that they rushed over to a badly wounded Chubby and somewhat conscious Miracle. The three of them sprinted off to the left side of the Casino, I turned back to stare at the empty streets only illuminated by the yellow fluorescent lights with one question in mind.
What the fuck happend.
