A ghost in the school

Chapter 1

"You killed her, Lizzy. You killed Maya!!" Stella said angrily and sorrowfully.

  "If you dare accuse me of her death again, you will join her soon"

  "Of course, why not? Because you are a murderer!!" Stella said as tears rolled down her cheeks " Just wait here, I'm going to report you to the principal and tell him you killed her"

   Lizzy burst out with laughter.

"Report me?" She asked and laughed again " Go ahead and do that, I can see you are so eager to join Maya" 

  "Ain't you guilty at all? You and your friends ganged up and killed an innocent girl by pushing her into the middle of the road and made her got crushed by a speeding car. You're full with evil"

     " It served her right" Lizzy said and shrugged in a way that seems what she did was right.

   "The school is mourning because of you and you are happy about it?"

   "And so?" Lizzy said and walked out on her, leaving the poor Stella who had just lose her innocent best friend in the restroom.

     Stella slide down and sat closely to the wall as tears rushed down her cheek. She remembered the way her friend had died in her presence,the memories were still fresh in her head.

   It was closing time, every student rushed out of their class. Two friends who were chatting happily was spotted.

  "I'm so glad you came first again,Maya" Stella said and smiled at her friend.

  "First? This is just a test not an exam, we can't predict yet"

  "Of course we can. You scored the total of 98 out of 100, your score was the highest. Maya,you have made it to the top again" Stella said and tickled her friend making her laugh so loud.

"Dad would be happy, he promised me some gift. I will bring you some"

  "I trust you" Stella replied and smiled " Since you said your dad is not going to pick you up today, let's get some chocolates at the store" she said as they walked out of the school gate.

  "Okay, let's go" Maya replied.

   They had just walked few minutes when a group of girls showed up suddenly from behind and pulled Maya by the hair.

  "You fool, how dare you? How dare you top the class again? I've always wanted to top the class but you are just an obstacle to me" Lizzy, the leader of the girls said angrily and slapt Maya.

  "What are you talking about, Lizzy" Maya responded as she held her cheek surprisedly.

  "How dare you slap my friend?" Stella asked angrily but the rest of the girls pushed her aside.

  "This is just the end of you,Maya" Lizzy said and smirked.

   The next thing and the last thing Maya ever experienced was being pushed in to the middle of the road and getting knocked down by a car.

     There was silence at first among the girls until Stella screamed out.

  "Nooooo!!

  The driver of the car sped of immediately, followed by Lizzy and her friends who ran away too.

  Some sympathisers took Maya's body out of the road and immediately rushed her to the hospital. Later, the school was informed about the incident.

   Maya was unconscious, she never opened her eyes,she laid lifelessly on the hospital bed. The doctors tried all they could do to safe her life but unfortunately she died the next day, on a Saturday.

    "Maya!!!" Stella screamed out loudly in tears as she remembered this.

    The school had just announced her painful death to the school on the assembly that morning. Sadness and tears knew no bond.

   Stella had already heard the news on the day Maya died because she and her parents had gone to the hospital thinking she would survived. No one ever taught it was going to be the opposite.

   Stella left the restroom for her class, her eyes were bloodshot. Her nose couldn't stop runny. Many of her classmates sympathized with her. They knew how closed they were.

    Teachers who came to teach day couldn't control their tears whenever Maya's empty seat was spotted. None of the teachers could successfully teach. That full day was used to mourn.

Later, during break, Maya's seat was taken away.

   Stella and Lizzy's eyes kept meeting. She seemed happy even with her  crocodile tears. Stella would have reported her but she feared death.
