A Beautiful Poem

Songs these days no longer express the soul

And lyrics are just words

Seems like creative writing has taken a wrong turn

Emotions replaced by bland turds

Long novels I'm unwilling to read

Pointless songs are just obsolete

To find my agitated mind some peace

I'll have to look for something short and sweet

A poem you say?

Let's give it a try right away

Oh yes that calms my nerves

A heavenly messenger sent to serve

I'd give all away

To read a beautiful poem and live another day

These words speak the truth, yet are so beautiful

How strange, cos the truth is always vile

Now that's a beautiful poem

And I can't help but smile

Oh dear poet, my giver of peace

Feed my soul and put me at ease

Be a poet of such stature

That does more than justice to literature
