Emma was so happy when she heard there was going to be a new brother or sister. She just turned 2 and is getting much better with her sentences. I am walking in the door, coming home from the doctor's appointment. I learned that I am going to have another girl. Emma was hoping for that. She will be so excited. I walk in, with a little gift bag. It has a pink teddy bear in it. Nate is at work and Mom is here with Emma. I walk in and find Mom and Emma playing on the floor. Emma is giggling away and Mom is smiling at Emma. She looks up and sees me. She gasps, "Emma. Look who it is!" Emma turns around and makes the cutest little excited face.

"Mama!!!" She gets up and runs over to me and hugs my legs. I smile and pick her up. "Hey, Em! What's up?"

"Gramma!" I smile and nod. "Uh huh!" I walk over and sit on the couch, with Emma in my lap. "I've got something to tell you, Emma." She smiles. "I went to the doctors today and they told me that you are going to have a little sister!" She squeals with delight and claps her hands.

Later, I put Emma down for her nap. Mom left shortly before and I sit on the couch, my hands resting on my stomach. Nate gets home. He looks kinda upset. I stand up with a little effort. "Hey, Nate. What's wrong?"

He looks up at me and puts on a smile, "Oh, nothing."

"Nate, don't lie. I know when something is wrong."

He sighs, "There was a budget cut at work today. They had to let a few people go, and I just happened to be one of them."

"Oh, Nate," I walk over to him and rest my hands on his shoulders. "I know how much you loves that job... I'm sorry."

He sighs, "I'll be fine. How was the doctor's?"

I smile. "It's a girl." This news brings a smile to his face. At that moment, Emma comes from the hallway.

"Dada." Nate turns around and sees her. "Hey, Em. what are you doing up?" He picks her up. "Better question, how did you get out of your crib?"

She smiles and sort of giggles, "I get out. I big girl now."

He laughs a little. "I know you are. Looks like we are going to have to get you a big girl bed. And then guess what?"

"What?"

"You're crib is gonna be used by your baby sister when she gets here." Emma likes that idea and smiles.

I sit on the couch, my back kinda hurting. Nate senses that I am not feeling so well and decides to take Emma to her room to play with her. I fall asleep, in a lovely little nap-coma.
