A Knock at the Door

On one fateful days eve

Thunder rolled through the trees

A flash of lightning rocked the house

Causing a beautiful girl to rouse

A princess was this girl so dead

Draped in a dark scarlet red

Blood draped her silver crown

And her painted face was in a frown

Here she lived in solitude

Alone in the altitude

Never taking a single breath

Not able to touch death

Cursed to walk the earth

Since her long forgotten birth

Everyday she sits and cries

Wanting to touch the heavenly skies

On this fateful days eve

Just as she was about to leave

A sharp thud hit the door

Causing the girl to slip on the floor

Gingerly brushing off her dress

Her heart she tries to suppress

Inching towards the outside

She opens the door and quickly hides

Calling out then stepping in

Came a man with a beautiful grin

Hiding silently she saw

The man slowly begin to thaw

Silently he looks around

And then gains a small frown

Getting up he slowly sees

The hiding princess beginning to freeze

"Hi my dear" he says so soft

That the words don’t make to the loft

"Are you the one who haunts the trees?

The one who walks on the breeze?

The one who is forever condemned

To walk alone til her days end?"

Looking into her eyes he suddenly knew

Everything he said was true

Suddenly he grabbed her hand

And slowly led her to the land

Out to do her daily chore

What usually was such a bore

Walked with her that frightful night

Never letting her leave his sight

Watching her under the star shine

Knowing this was the final sign

At the end he looked into her eyes

And pushed told her something beautiful and wise

"To my dear, the one I love

To you I hold nothing above

I would like to be your friend

Till the very end

Protect you on your every flight

Take my hand and trust me tonight?"

The girl looked up in shock

Loosing the drive to talk

Asking could this be true

Someone to make me less blue?

Someone who will stay

And wont let me stray?

Slowly saying not one but two

She looked him and simply said, "I do"
