'It's the year 2022 and the world has come to grips with the fact that the supernatural is real-'
I paused mid-sentence and studied the words in front of me, wondering if I should rephrase my writing. I'm about to be more than just a scholar, the day I received my acceptance letter was the day my future as a journalist began, I needed to develop a better way in saying the things I wanted to.
I'm the type of girl who liked to be prepared and that's why I was sitting in my seat on flight 765 writing an article, which I would show my professor if he or she ever asked me to write one on the current state of our world. I would probably have more to add by then which I will but for now I will write what comes to mind.
'To see a werewolf or a vampire while you're on your everyday run is not something that is so abnormal in these current times.' I rephrase the introductory sentence with a smile, thinking about the woman on the news who had explained, with fear and joy in her voice, her encounter with the largest wolf she had ever seen.
Of course I have never seen any of these mysterious creatures, but the sightings and reality show have all piqued my interest.
The werewolves and vampires came out of hiding two years ago, they have since formed a body and signed a treaty agreeing to live in peace with us humans. The vampires come out at night while the werewolves keep to the forest only coming out to the city and showing their true forms a few times.
I've always been fascinated with them and that is why I applied at a college in the country with the most sighting; Valkary Top.
The day I received my acceptance letter was the best day of my life, not only was Valkary Top a great college but being there would give me the opportunity to experience what others have and record those sightings on my blog.
I finished my article in under an hour and fell asleep, I was so excited to get to my destination that I didn't get any sleep the night before.
I woke when someone shook me and informed me that the plane had landed. That caused me to be wide awake, I gathered my things and followed the crowd off the plane and into the airport, where I was cleared by immigration and directed to the waiting area.
Along with my acceptance letter I had received the ticket for my flight and a note stating that the institution will have an escort waiting for me when I arrive. As I entered the waiting area, I scanned the crowd for the college's name.
It took less than a minute for me to spot a guy dressed in a fancy suit holding up a sophisticated sign with the college's named engraved on it.
'Classy,' I thought.
I soon realized that I wasn't the only one looking for the escort, as myself and five others approached the man.
Before any of us could say a word, the guy said.
"Welcome to Wadson, the land of hidden mysteries. My name is Gabe and I will be your chauffeur for today. As I call your names please step forward, Yasuda, Fanella, Jason, Jeremy, and Dacia, and Clinton." As each person stepped forward he handed over a badge which was decorated in red and black and had our names and pictures on it. Then he said, "Follow me."
We all trailed after him, and I wondered if anyone else realized that we hadn't collected our luggage.
I was expecting to see a yellow school bus waiting for us, but after seeing our escort, the sign board and our badges, I should have known better. Our ride looked more like a tour bus.
The RV which awaited us was metal black with the name Valkary Top written in red on its side; which seemed to go on forever.
We all entered the RV, looking in amazement at the plush inside of the vehicle. It wasn't long before we were all seated and on our way to Valkary, the town where Valkary Top was located. Everyone introduced themselves and the country they were from, the chauffeur had informed us that the trip would take approximately four hours, so as we sat in the comfortable RV, I observed the scenery and wrote a description on it.
Wadson wasn't a very populated place, or should I say urbanized? The city was very small, consisting of a few shopping complex and one mall. Very soon we were surrounded by green. The forest went on for miles and miles.
I wrote to my heart's content, then tuned in on the conversation. From their tone, I could tell that the others came from wealthy families and were accustomed to the finer things. Yasuda all but boasted of her family's wealth and business.
I soon got bored and plugged up my ears, only taking out my ear plugs when I saw the most unbelievable thing I have ever seen.
I hurriedly took out my phone to send to my best friend Shane a photo.
When the bus came to a halt, I stepped down to gawk at the sight in front of me.
I was looking at an actual castle. It was built with black bricks and had red banners drapping from the tops of its towers down to the bottom.
Standing in front of that wonder was what seemed to be hundreds of people dressed in red and black uniforms. I was stunned and could not stop myself from saying.
"Holy shit." I said this only loud enough for the group I was with to hear, but I clasped my hands over my mouth, for I heard my voice ring out loudly over a PA.
