you were the reason it kept

beating  — my fragile, pretty

heart who craves music, art and

poetry that understands me,

and gives me the heart-to-heart

I need.

you said my heart would be safe in

your arms,

but wasn't.

in a heartbeat

my heart was

crushed by

you ;

what becomes of me now?

summer playlists clouded your ears

passion fruit juice on your lips

swirling tattoos of suns and heartbreak hearts on your arms

but I didn't hear the alarm to stop growing love for you the way white roses bloom

and now I'm gardening roses of love for you, day in day out

yet I'm breaking my back, in the hopes you see the fruits of

my labour, iloveyou iloveyou iloveyou

but everything has withered and died when i see you

giving her lovey-dovey eyes from across your midnight table,

a hand is cupped in your chin and you look like your

iricus, falling to earth, with no doubts as you let

your wings burn—

burn madly, as you fall in love with her

and I know — I know I have no right to feel so melancholy, so heartbroken,

so trapped by my caught of guard feelings that snap, cry and scream

like i'm thrown in the eye of the storm —when i see you

watching her through those star-crossed lover fairy lights,

running your musical hands down them in a soft disconnection,

sending her the right signs —

it hurts to know those star-crossed lovers i see aren't you and me,

but I don't envy, I adore her, in weird way

because she's the person who captured your mind, body and soul

in ways i never could

for my love for you is just memory,

and so

I'm star-crossed lover staring at other stars in love.
