Felicity sat, a silent statue, outside of the medical ward. Blinking back tears, she couldn't help but feel guilty about why Max was in the position he was. After all, it was her that he'd defended. Thinking back, she should've stepped in, made Daman back off...she hated using the power that her family name brought, but if she had....Felicity stopped thinking about it, realising it was pointless thinking through all the "if's" and "what could've been's".
"Felicity Carthage?" An old yet welcoming nurse questioned.
"Yes, that's me. Is Max alright? Can I see him yet?" The nurse laughed kind-heartedly, responding with a curt, "Go on in."
"Thank you..." Felicity trailed off as she saw the bruised and battered form of Max Walker. She quickly walked over, grabbing his hand and apologising profusely for not stepping in. "Felicity, please, my head is killing, keep it down a bit will you?"
Laughing slightly, she sat on a nearby chair, and waited. Slowly, Max sat up, and before she could say sorry another time, he mumbled, "You've got nothing to be sorry for. I knew what might've happened. Anyway, what happened to Olc?"
"Daman...well...wait, what's that? You've got a tattoo?" Felicity exclaimed, wondering what the dark purple spirals were on the back of Max's hand. "What...tattoos?" Max paused during this sentence, giving the distinct impression that, for some odd reason, he didn't remember getting them. "It's..it's okay if you don't wanna talk about them. Anyway, let's get you out of here, if your feeling good enough?" Max's face had paled, but he simply said, "I'm going." Felicity wondered if it was her question about the tattoo that had made him feel down, but brushed it off as shock of what had happened. Watching from the roof of the next building over, a tall man wrapped in dark blue robes examined the scene before him, fading into darkness soon after.
