The sound of a gunshot rang throughout the corridors, a young, purple haired winged creature sprinting to the sound, their eyes welling with tears as they stopped at the door. A brute of a man held a gun, having shot his wife just moments before, the young child seeing her body crumple to the ground as a wail ripped through their voice. "It's not fair!" They cried out, running to the fallen being and hugging it tightly, tears streaming down their face as they sobbed. Just sobbed.

"She was a weak woman, Pyrite, she mustn't be here," he spoke calmly, crouching down next to them and placing a heavy hand on their back, listening to the wails that tore the voice of the small child apart. This was their mother, their only caretaker that was a bit more attentive; and now she was dead. "I want momma!! You are a monster! Monster!" They screamed with hate, struggling away from the paw that held their back. Tears had ruined their sweet, innocent face. Pyrite was only 5, how dare this monster of a man hurt their mother. A scream of pure sorrow filled the ears of their father. Thunder crashed outside and the rain grew heavier. Pain was flooding their chest as they ran, Pyrite just ran from the person who ruined everything. Their small shoes tapped the ground quickly. "You hurt her!" They wailed once more before everything spiraled to darkness.

...

PC snapped up with a heavy gasp, gaze snapping around the cell they laid in, hearing footsteps ringing down the hallway and hushed voices not far from the area. A soft sigh came from them as they went to the small mirror, checking over the eyebags that never seem to leave. Three years. It's been three years since he was put in here. How lovely. They let out a small chuckle at the realization before turning and sitting next to their cellmate that they soon had fallen for, staring over his thin face. Slowly, they began to cuddle, hearing the soft mumbles from the sleepy other. "Mghn... PC, another one?" He asked gently, pulling them into his chest as they cuddled, eyes closing. "It was mom's death," was the answer, both of them growing quiet before he soon pulled PC closer, rubbing a hand over their back.

Soft hums came from them at the touch that they oh so missed, feeling a tear slip down their cheek. "Veri, promise to stay with me?" They asked with a meek tone of voice, feeling the small droplets grow uncontrollable. "Of course! Why-why would I ever leave you, my little bird?" He asked with confusion and concern, holding his face. A boney finger wiped the tear away before they hugged tightly once more, both becoming so unstable, tears falling from both. Veri never knew the touch of a family, but he knew that they mattered to the little creature who desired the touch of a man who cared. Both stayed latched together throughout the night, feeling tears falling till none came and both were fast asleep, peaceful at last again.
