***Wanda POV***

As soon as the kid was in the elevator, I turned to everyone else.

"Tony, how fast can you get into his phone?" I asked urgently.

"Why?"

"His dog didn't die. He never had one."

Tony ran to his lab, the rest of us in tow.

"Wanda, what did you see?" Bruce asked.

"Those cuts weren't from a cat, either. They came from his aunt."

Everyone went silent, and turned towards me.

"She threw a beer bottle at him, and it shattered."

"What about the internal bleeding?" Tony's voice rose, and I don't think I'd even seen him that worried in the entire time I'd known him.

"A bully at school."

"Holy shit," Rhodey's voice was laced with disbelief. We knew it was bad when Steve didn't scold him.

A faint whirring sound and I glanced back at Bucky, who was stretching his arm. "What's the address?"

"Hold on. His aunt doesn't even know that he works here. He said he was hanging out with his friend Ned."

"Isn't that the kid he thought he was texting when he accidentally texted you?"

"Yeah, yeah he is."

"I'm gonna turn on the microphone on his phone so we can hear him, but he won't be able to hear us."

He typed a few words on screen and we waited.

Access granted.

"-upid ungrateful little shit! Good for nothing bitch! All I do is take care of you and you repay me like this?!" A woman's voice shrieked.

Glass shattered and we heard a cry of pain. Then the familiar sound of punching and kicking.

Thump.

It went deathly quiet.

"Clean up this mess, and go to your room. Don't come out until I tell you to."

Receding footsteps.

We heard Peter hiss, and a few seconds later, another thump. Straining, labored breathing, and finally soft footsteps.

A click, glass hitting glass, crinkling, and another click.

More footsteps, and a door closing. Fabric rustled and everything became less muffled. He'd pulled out his phone.

We quickly turned off the microphone and pulled out our phones. Sure enough, Peter's name was showing with the "typing" bubble.

***Natasha POV***

We stared down at our phones in shock. We obviously knew it wasn't an accident that he'd been hit with that bottle.

"I'm going," Bucky said, causing Steve to stand and grab his arm. He pulled Bucky into an embrace.

"Buck," Steve whispered. "We can't help him right now."
