The tension is so high that even the soulmate bond can't almost overpower it. It's just there, of course, cruising on their system and trying hard to hold the unintentional anger that is shaking to seep through.
Two pairs of soulmates are sitting on the dining table, mouthwatering foods displayed on top, and the utensils being placed by Lee's mom.
Gayoon and Yizhuo looked at each other, sharing a silent conversation by it, their eyes flickering on their soulmates beside them.
Gayoon cleared her throat. "Ma, you should sit and eat with us." She broke the silence, inviting the woman to join them.
"Oh dear, I do lose my empathy, but I can still see what's going on. Donghyuck, hijo, stop glaring at Yangyang." she scolded, then smiled at Yangyang. "Eat lots, mijo. Let's talk when I'll come back, okay?"
"Ma, can't you take a day off?" Yizhuo pouted.
Hena chuckled and rounded to her daughter to kiss her head. "Be good to your soulmate, okay? Mama will just check on the hospital; it won't take very long."
"Thank you for the warm welcome, mama." Yangyang beamed a smile.
Donghyuck clicked his tongue. "Mama, my ass," he whispered.
"Lee Donghyuck," Gayoon hissed and glared at him, then looked at the woman and asked, "Do you want us to drive you there, ma?"
"No, it's okay; you should be famished right now. Eat lots. Donghyuck, take care of Gayoon."
"Yes, ma." Donghyuck then pecked on his mother's cheek and walked her outside the door.
Once the woman was out, the mood immediately changed again.
"Oh, this looks delicious. Let's eat, shall we?" Gayoon beamed, and they started eating.
But not too long, though.
"Liu Yangyang"
The said male accidentally choked on his food by the sudden call.
Donghyuck's tone is so low and cold that even Gayoon stopped eating and looked at him.
"Oppa, you're so mean!" Yizhuo whined as she rubbed the male's back while he gulped the whole glass of water.
Yet Donghyuck stilled, his eyes narrowing, ignoring the gayoon's taps on his thigh.
"I'm still not over you," Donghyuck said.
"I'm not planning anything bad, Donghyuck. I'm aware why you don't like me, but I assure you, I won't hurt your sister in any way."
Donghyuck raised his brow and said, "I'm not letting you break what's mine, Gayoon or my sister."
"I can assure you every day that I'm not someone you think I am. I'm here at your house, sitting on a table with you, meeting your mom as Yizhuo's soulmate. No other way."
