By no means was I the man of the school that everyone wanted. That popular kid that everyone wanted to be or date. Just your average guy here, that was slightly good lookin'. My name is Matthew Spencer, my friends call me Matt. I'm a junior in college, studying to become a chef. I don't live on campus, I share an apartment with my best friend about 5 minutes from the school. And yes, it's 5 minutes walking distance. It was the first day of October and the air was chilly. I stopped at the crosswalk and took a deep breath, pulling the cold air into my lungs. Fall was my favorite time of year, it was always so pretty and the bugs are almost always gone by this point. Plus, Halloween was around the corner. It's my favorite holiday so I'm pretty stoked, I get to scare kids and not get in trouble for it. I heard heavy breathing behind me and glanced back to see Chloe running down the sidewalk. That girl was always late to school, the only reason she's going to be on time today is because it's the first day of the month. The first week of each month, she would show up on time to give her teachers false hope that she would be a good student. Sometimes she would show up on time the first 2 weeks, just to make it seem more legit. And then she would be 5-10, maybe 15 minutes later to her classes the rest of the month because she takes her sweet ass time to get ready in the morning. I snickered as she got out her water bottle and started drinking. She gave me a dirty look and flipped me off, causing me to laugh more. We crossed the street together and started planning out a movie night for after school, it was a normal thing for us to do as we walked into the building.

I watched as Chloe ran ahead to beat me to my locker, walking at my casual pace. However, I sped up after noticing that she was staring at my locker for a bit of time. As I reached her, I noticed a small envelope with my name written in red glitter ink with a heart next to it. I pulled it off my locker and opened it, starting to read the letter that was hidden within:

Dear Matt

I have been admiring you from a distance since the year started back in August. You are such an amazing person and I would love to be yours. Although, before we can do that we must get to know each other so much better. So I thought of an amazing game to play! Everyday, for the month of October, a note will be left on your locker. On Mondays, one letter will be taped to the locker and there will be 2 in the locker. The two in the locker are the letters for Saturday and Sunday while the one on the locker door is for Monday. You have until Halloween to find out who I am. If you haven't by then, we aren't meant to be and the letters will stop being left. I hope you can find out who I am! <3

Signed, Erin Quinn

As I finished reading, I glanced at Chloe. Of course she was reading over my shoulder but that was normal. She snatched the letter to re-read it as I noticed an extra piece of paper in the envelope. I unfolded it and read what it said.

Here is some basic information to help you find me! <3

Erin Quinn, Age 19, Freshman Year of College

Halfway through the month I'll tell you my major!
P.S. Erin is just my middle name and it just makes the game a little more difficult, there's lots of Erins in this school but not too many with my real name.

So not only do I have a secret admirer, but they aren't using their real name so I don't find them. I just have to find a kid that seems interested in me in a month. Great. Just great. This is gonna suck.
