Confessions of a Bad Boy

Chapter Two: The Bad Boy's Prey

Avery's POV

There was an aura around him, black and heavy with the smell of death that it repelled people and even bugs from him. If I wasn’t so distracted by this I would have noticed the little things like the constant moving of the fingers, showing his was slightly nervous or the way his eyes kept darting everywhere. People who caught this from him might have interpreted it differently. They might have thought he was holding himself back from smashing someone’s head into the desk, repeatedly. But I did not see that in him right now, I saw a little kid who nobody in the playground wanted to play with because he had lice in his hair.

I sighed and went walking to a desk, knowing I was making the wrong decision. Just because everyone is doing it doesn’t mean I have to as well, right? Urgh, this is going to ruin my invisible, who nobody knows, reputation. Yet as I sat down in the desk next to him, I couldn’t help but make eye contact with him. His honey brown eyes were wide and full of shock by my action. I bit my bottom lip to stop myself from smiling at the face he made and turned my attention forward, waiting for class to start. I could fell many eyes burning on me already, one in particular was coming from right next to me.

“What?” I asked him when this kept going for more than a minute. “Is this seat taken?”

“No, it’s not.” He answered clearing his throat and sitting more comfortably in his seat, well as comfortable as it could get when you are six foot something in a tiny desk that squeaks any tiny movement you make.

It seems like people had plead with the teacher to moves seats and many ditched when they saw him in the class. Bunch of babies they turned out to be. He is just a guy, not a demon.

“Okay class…” The teacher spoke out, loudly, getting everyone’s attention and soon the whispering stopped. His worried eyes kept glancing to the person next to me. Well it looks like even teachers have fallen for his threatening charm. “We will be reading out of the book, so if you don’t have a book get with someone who does.”

Crap, I forgot my book!

“Here, we can share.” Brandon said like he was reading my mind. He got a hold of my desk with one hand before pulling it closer towards him, making a loud shrieking sound that caused everyone to look at us. I was so close to him now that if I moved my arm the slightest it would rub against his. I tried getting my mind together but then I caught a musky scent of pine trees mixed with men’s axe and my mind turned to mush again.

“Um, you don’t have to. Be-besides me and Michael always share a book. Right Michael?” I asked Michael and it looked like he was going to nod his head ‘yes’ but then his eyes went to Brandon. I could feel something spine chilling come from Brandon that caused Michael instead to nod his head ‘no’.

Great…

“Looks like you are stuck with me.” Brandon whispered in my ear sending tingles down my body. “I’m Brandon by the way.”

“I know,” I said sounding a bit harsh which I regretted. I sighed before saying, “My name is Avery. Avery Venezuela.”

He flashed me a stunning smile before flipping to the page we were already supposed to be. What is with him? I thought he was still scary and the typical mean, ugly bully. But most of all why is he trying to being nice and forcing me to share books with him?

I pondered over this all period that when the bell rang it shocked me. I quickly jumped out of my seat like it was on fire while saying, “Thanks for sharing your book with me, I’ll see you later.”

“Avery, wait!” He called out when I quickly walked out the room. He stumbled after me which quite frankly scared me a bit? Is he going to shake me down for my lunch money like normal bullies?

But I don’t have any! And if I did I would have already used it! Okay, calm down Avery, it’s not like he is going to slap a girl for not having lunch money on her, right? But then why would he want lunch money if lunch already passed? Okay, thinking about him all period must have shaken me up more than I thought…

He finally caught a hold of me and roughly pressed me against the lockers. I gasped when he caged me with his body by putting his hands on both sides of my head. Brandon’s head was down and he was breathing fast. He finally dropped a hand that had caged me in and he handed me a pencil.

“You, um left your pencil.”

His honey brown eyes were looking up into my shocked ones. He was following after me for so long to give me back my… pencil? But I didn’t have a pencil, I had a pen.

“Thank you,” I said slowly taking it from him.

His lips twitched and I think he knew it wasn’t mine. His were eyes burning into mine as he stepped back and it reminded me of a tiger with his eyes set on his prey. He licked his red lips and ran his hand through his devilish black hair before walking away. Yup, it was a huge mistake to sit next to him…
