"Aria; it's New Year's Eve. Enough reading" my mum said taken the book from my hands as I sat on the sofa, curled in on myself reading

It was where I found myself most content, sitting somewhere warm, usually under covers whilst my eyes skimmed the words of a nice book

It was my idea of a good evening, or sometimes even day if I had nothing to do that day

"But mum I'm almost done and-" I sighed at her insistent look knowing I wasn't gonna win an argument with her

"The teen party? I've laid out your best clothes.
Come get ready" she ushered me up

"Can I have my book back?" She looked between the book and my extended hand before handing it over
"Thank you"

"Come on"

I walked through the doors of the teen party and was immediately met with loud noise and a bunch of people. I clutched my book to my chest as I walked through carefully trying not to bump into anyone and save myself the embarrassment of profusely apologising

"Howdy ma'am" a guy dressed as a cowboy said and I laughed before taking a seat on an empty sofa and opening my book

The song that was playing came to an end by the 2 people on the stage and A male voice was heard followed by cheering but I was to invested in the book to look up until a light shone on me.

I winced as I looked up and raised my hand to cover the light from my eyes wondering what was going on around me

"And you" someone grabbed my hand that was already in the air shielding myself and lifted me up and led me to a stage where everyone was cheering. I looked to the side to see a boy up there with me. He was handsome and just looking at him, and connecting eyes, I already started to turn red

"hey, you know what someday you may thank me for this.... or not" the guy handed the guy beside me a microphone and left the stage

Guy: livin' inmy own world
didn't understand
that anything could happen
when you take a chance he turned around about to get off the stage and I sighed not wanting to be left alone up there by myself in case he decided to flee

Me: I never believed in
what I couldn't see
and never opened my heart (ooh)
to all the posebilleties (ooooooh)

Together: I know

Me: that somethings have changed

Together: never felt this way

Me: and right here tonight
