Chapter 26

Caitlyn's pov

It was about 3:30 AM when Niall and I arrived at the hospital Liam was staying at.

"Can you tell me where Liam Payne's room is?" I asked the elderly receptionist.

"Only family members and close friends aloud in" she said not even bothering to look up from her dusty computer screen "your about the 30th random girl to ask me to see him today"

"No you don't understand" Niall said "I'm his bandmate, and she's his sister, you called her about an hour or so ago"

"I'm going to need an ID" she sighed

Niall and I both showed her our IDs and she led us at snail pace to Liam's room.

"Li" I sighed when I saw him in the hospital bed. He wasn't unconscious anymore, which was a sigh of relive. He looked absolutely awful on the other hand, like he was at deaths door. His skin was so pale he almost blended into the white cotton sheets he was in, his eyes weren't their normal bright chocolate color, they were a dull brown like all the life had been sucked out of him.

"What happened Liam?" I asked as I wiped a tear away, I've never seen Liam like this and it was a pretty painful sight to see your older brother look like he was literally about to die.

"She cheated on me" he croaked out before a few tears rolled down his cheeks.

"What do you mean?" I asked as I used my sweatshirt sleeve to wipe away his fallen tears, I've only seen Liam cry a few times in my life, he's always been a tough guy that didn't like to show his emotions.

"Sophia" he said barely audible, I handed Liam the small plastic cup of water and helped him take a drink before he continued "I was going to surprise her, but she was in bed with someone else"

"I'm so sorry Li" I said as I wiped away his tears again "who was she with?"

"I don't even know" he croaked "I loved her so much"

"She made an awful mistake" I said as he leaned in and tried to hug me, only to hear a loud groan before he violently threw up in the garbage can next to his bed, the room instantly reeked of alcohol.

"Why did you drink?" I asked him "you know your not supposed to"

"I wanted to drown my sorrows at the closed bar I could find" he said "I don't even remember drinking that much"

"How'd you end up here?" I asked him as I brushed his hair out of his forehead that was a little sticky from sweat, but I didn't mind.

"I have no idea" Liam said "I kind of blanked out"

"Alrighty" a balding doctor said in monotony "were going to request that Liam be left alone for the rest of the night to get some sleep"

"But we just got here" I complained as I felt Liam squeeze my hand that he was holding.

"Are you his girlfriend or something?" He asked

"Ew no, I'm his sister" I said making Niall chuckle, I honestly forgot he was in here.

"Well I'm sorry but there's a nice hotel up the road" the doctor said "you can see him first think in the morning"

"Fine" I huffed "bye Li"

"Bye Caitlyn" he said "love you"

"Love you too" I said back

"And Niall" Liam hollered as we walked out the door making Niall walk back inside "thanks for not letting her come here all alone tonight"

"No problem" Niall said as he smiled brightly, maybe at knowing that Liam was happy that he was with me, where as the old Liam would have been angry that we were even in the same room together.
