i left. i left my home. i'm not sure where i was going, but i was going somewhere. i ended up in california, i had little money, and no clothes, but i was free from my father. i was tired, and decided to sit down on the side of the road for a rest. i guess i ended up falling asleep because i was awoken from a tap on the shoulder. "are you okay?" a young man asked me. he looked around my age. "yeah, i'm fine. why do you ask?" i looked directly into his eyes, they were very bright. "you were lying on the streets, in the rain. do you live around here?" he looked concerned. "actually, i don't have a home. i came down here to find somewhere to stay." he helped me up. "do you want me to take you home with me?" i don't know him, but he seems kind. "i appreciate your offer, but no thanks. im good!" i pulled my phone out of my pocket to check the time. 23:12. "okay. can i get your number? i can help you any time you need." i gave it to him, got his name, and he left.

6 months later.

i had enrolled myself in a college, and i had gotten a job. i had no idea how i was going to pay for college with the little money i make from working at a pole yard, but i would make it work. i had a dorm, and that's where i had been staying. i had talked with colby tons, and we were going to hang out today. i had just hung my violin up on the wall when there was a knock on my dorm door. "coming!!" i shouted, and i ran across the dorms living room. "hi! you ready to go?" colby asked. he looked nervous. "yeah! im ready! where are we going?" i put my headphones into my pocket, and stepped out my door. "just to get lunch at panera, then maybe hang around for a while." "i need to check my bank account first. im not sure i have enough for lunch." i pulled my phone out to check, but colby pushed it back down. "im going to pay, don't worry." i put my phone back into my pocket. "are you sure?" "yeah, it's cheap anyway, let's go." he grabbed my hand and we left.

we ate, and ended up at the beach. colby was super sweet, i was developing a huge crush on him. during my 6 months of being here, he's helped me so much. "so, charly, i've been meaning to ask you.." he looked nervous. i was nervous too. "will you.. will you be my girlfriend?" i smiled widely. "ofcourse i will." he grabbed my hands, and smiled widely. the sun was shining over his face, but i could still see how happy he looked. we spent the rest of the night on the beach, colby talked a lot about sam, and sams gf kat.
