Once upon a time in the early 2000's there was a small town called Temecula in California. Nothing exciting usually happens in the lives of it's residents. Damian's is no other. Together with his sister and parents he lives here since he was born. The days go by and by, the students go to school and wait for the vacations.
It's summertime already and the days get hotter and hotter.
,,Ayo Damian, you're coming to the school festival? You know everybody gonna be there, right?''- asks his friend Lucas.
,,Not sure, is there anything exciting? I don't wanna go just to be there.''
,,Come on man. It's the last week of school - Ahh I know now, you don't wanna go because of Jane''
,,What?! Shut the fuck up. I don't care about her anymore-''
,,Nahh, you can't stand seeing her making out with her new guy'' - he laughs . ,,Alright, see ya after class. And you better come.''
After the bell rings, Damian meets up with Lucas again and they go to the basketball practice together. Damian wears a purple Lakers wirstband, pretty cool.
At home on the evening he lays on his bed, Stan by Eminem running on his speakers. He reminds himself of the time he had back two years ago. He was happy with his ex girlfriend Jane and was intrigrated in a friends group. After they broke up, he isolated himself more and more - and got lonely. Jane caught him sleeping with a cheerleader at a party. It was his first time drinking Alcohol.
,,Fuck it''
Two days later, it's the day of the festival.
,,Man, where's this guy? I knew he would dip.''
The day goes on, the students celebrating. They build little shops and sell cookies and sweets to have some money for the summer break. Jane is also there with her boyfriend Sam.
Lucas gets a call from Damian.
,,Yo, I'll be there in a minute, wait''
,,I thought you wouldn't come at all, hurry up. It's going on already''
At the meantime, the basketball game started. It's the last of the season and it got combined with the school fest. Temecula could win the State championship this year. Lucas and Damian didn't make team. At halftime, the cheerleaders enter the court to start ther choreography but they notice one is missing. Because of that they can't start. So, they start to search for her.
,,Janice?! Where the hell is this bitch?! She's messing everything up.''
After 35 minutes, a scream could be heard near the gym. A girl found Janice. She lays in a bush. Her limbs are ripped out. No hands, no feet. She is covered in blood, her cheerleader dress ripped. The girls start to scream whil some others try to look for help and call the police. While they wait they go back into the school building. They are the only ones in there.
At the same moment they enter, Damian arrives. He looks for Lucas. He tells him what happend.
,,What the fuck? Where?''
,,No, stay here. We're waiting for the cops.''
As a few minutes passed, they start to hear a growling. They weather just changed to dark clouds and heavy rain. Then sudenly, the ground starts shaking - like an earthquake. The group starts to hide in a classroom. As they look out the window, they notice something strange...
Big rocks stomp out of the ground and block the windows, some even break. Two of the basketball players open the main door and flee. As they run for a few meters, big tentacles out of the ground grab them and crush them. They explode. The tentacles grab some rocks and block every door the building has.
The students are horrified and can't believe their eyes. They try to hide again.
The rumbling has ended and the only thing they hear are police sirens.
