she's very defensive if someone looks through her stuff and seems to protect it with her life, no matter how trivial it may seem. this is also attributed to the fact that she tends to be somewhat of a hoarder, collecting and impulse buying random trinkets.
leiko seems to be physically incapable of staying still, always finding the need to pace back and forth or fidget with her body parts, whether that would be tapping incessantly or bouncing her knee a lot. this is mostly due to her adhd, which she finds annoying.
likes: chicken, fishing, surfing, volleyball, the beach, fireflies
dislikes: holua sledding (hawaiian lava sledding), the dark, corn.

clothing:
casual: leiko usually wears her dad's cargo bomber jacket (he tended to wore while off duty) that is still is a size too big for her. it has a loose hood and is yellow on the inside while black on the outside. the jacket has a puffy, yellow pocket on the left arm. along with this, she also wears white, tight leggings and a yellow tank top with a black sports bra peaking a bit underneath, which goes up to her collarbone. she also has her father's dog tag attached to a chain as a necklace
date: leiko would wear a tan, denim sherpa jacket, black shorts, and a white tank top. she'd wear black sneakers, flats, flip-flops, or heels depending on the occasion. she still wear's her father's dog tag around her neck.

BACKSTORY.

leiko was actually born in the mainland of the u.s., but moved to hawaii when she was eight, and the following six years she spent there seemed to have the most impact on her. she practically thrived on the beach, often accompanying her father and older brother on fishing trips with their neighbors when they were off-duty, surfing with both her friends and family and occasionally holua sledding (which she was absolutely terrified of.)
during her time in hawaii, she witnessed a bunch of tourists playing beach volleyball one time. though this wasn't an uncommon sight, for some reason, she thought it was really cool to see. from then on, she started to compete in beach volleyball contests with her friends and join their school's volleyball team because of it.
her world seemed to turn upside down the moment her father announced they were moving when she was fourteen. though leiko was more than aware that this was normal for military families, she couldn't help but still feel upset. she discovered so much in this place, and going away from it felt like leiko was stripping a part of her identity away. it didn't help that she doesn't do well with change. from then on, she tended to argue with her once-beloved father, even well after they moved to japan, such as the move overall, the fact that they weren't living on base anymore, cultural differences, and every little thing she couldn't help but fuss at.
the day leiko's father was deployed, however, her attitude shifted. she seemed to be in a depressive episode for a few months. in her mind (though it was quite a childish reasoning), she thought that she was the reason her dad was deployed; that she was the reason he went away. when she finally got through her darkest days, she attempted to change her behavior, so that she could be more open-minded to things that bothered her previously when she first moved and be a better person until her father came back. but, until then, with his dog tag around her neck and his off-duty jacket as a memento, she would have to wait for her to fix their strained relationship.
enemy(ies): rintaro suna (she used to dislike him for his lazy demeanor, though he managed to gain her respect after she watched him in a volleyball game)
・ leiko was tested and diagnosed with adhd, which, unfortunately, does take a toll on herself in the form of her tendency to get hurt, hyperactivity, and impulse.
・ she is ethinically half-native hawaiian and half-japanese; leiko is equally involved with both cultures and can speak both languages + english. however, her hawaiian is much better than the two others.
・ leiko was very attached to her father as a child. although it's now strained, she really hopes when he comes back, it'll get better.
・ her and kaleo's shared bedroom seems to be the size of walk-in closet.
・ her favorite sibling is actually her sister-in-law, aina. as much as she loves her brothers, she thinks they're very annoying.
・ in terms of who's the toughest to please when it comes to romantic relationships, aina tends to be rather thorny towards leiko's significant others, benny falling not too far behind, believing it's "just an older brother thing."
favorite food: chicken on rice
current concern: she cannot set to save her life and somehow she's still in the starting line-up.
