"(Y/N), wake up. Your mother is home." Someone was holding my shoulder. I shot up immediately, not recognizing the voice. In one swift motion, I jumped off my bed, punching whoever was there in the face. Only, I felt nothing. I watched as the person's face dissipated around my fist. I pulled back, realizing who it was. Their face returned, in the form of pixels. 'Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. I totally forgot you were here!' "It's alright, I suppose." They patted my shoulder. "You did go to sleep immediately after my activation. It would make sense for you to be alarmed by an unrecognized voice." I lazily tumbled out of bed, stumbling to the kitchen downstairs. (Reference That could get me a copyright strike if this were YouTube) "Oh, hey, hun. How was your day?" My mother asked, placing her purse on the counter. She handed me a cherry slushy, which I gladly took. 'Three in a day? I must be in some type of Heaven...' My Squip chuckled. "I can assure you you are still alive." 'It was a metaphor. Let me have this.' "I know what you meant. I'm inside your brain, remember?" "(Y/N)? Are you okay?" My mother asked, slightly concerned. I nodded. "Yeah, sorry, zoned out for a sec. What's up?" I took a sip from my the red nectar in my hand. "How was your day at school?" "Oh." I nodded. "It was pretty good. One of the Populars was... Nice? To me?" 'Would you consider it to be nice?' "I'd say it was close, yes..." "What did they want?" My mother deadpanned. "He..." 'What do I do, I can't just say "Oh, he gave me a Japanese super computer." She'd think I was crazy.' I glanced at my SQUIP with a worried expression. "I'm going to control your speech. It'll almost be like you're in a trance." 'Okay?..' "He gave me a note. It just talked about how sorry he was for treating me the way he did since I got here. It was weird." I, or rather my SQUIP said. 'That felt really violating...' I blinked, weirded out by what had just happened. I had no control of my body or voice, and that was scary. "I apologize, but you had no idea what you were talking about. You can just repeat after me in the future." I gave a nod, small enough that my mother wouldn't notice. "Jeremy is about to text you. He's going to invite you over to play Apocalypse of the Damned. Accept his invitation." 'Why wouldn't I do that? Jeremy is one of my best friends.' "I know it makes you uncomfortable that his male parental unit does not wear any pants. Sometimes, you make up something so you don't have to see him." I didn't say or think anything for a moment. My mom was reading a book and eating BBQ Corn nuts. The book had a picture of a person in a striped polo. The title of the book was written on the person's cast, which was in their right arm. "Well, I am right, aren't I?" My SQUIP asked, arms crossed over their chest. 'I would hang out at Jeremy's place more if his dad didn't barge in pant-less all the time...' "... so, I really am happy you adjusted so well." I heard my mom finish. "Yeah..." I smiled. "I am, too." My phone buzzed. "It's Jeremy." I pulled out my phone, and sure enough, Jeremy was inviting me to play AOTD with him and Michael. "Hey, mom. I'm going to Jeremy's." I said, rather than asked. I've gone over there so often, she just needs to know where I am. She's met Jeremy so many times, she's dubbed him harmless. "K. Be back before midnight. Or stay the night. It doesn't really matter." She nods. Stuffing some more corn nuts into her mouth. (NO, YOU NASTIES. I CAN SEE YOUR COMMENTS FROM A TOWN NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD OF ACROSS THE OCEAN FROM YOUR LOCATION.)

I put on some shoes and my jacket, walking out the door. "That thing has to go." 'I- What?' "And I'm curious as to how you stammer in your thoughts." 'You were being so nice earlier. What happened to that?' I asked, slightly upset by my Squip's sudden change in demeanor. "My job is to improve your life, not be nice to you." My SQUIP looked straight ahead as they walked, their hands behind their back. I walked in silence for a moment. Before turning toward my SQUIP. It wasn't until now that I realized I hadn't gotten a good look at them yet. They had short black hair. They were wearing a bright blue shirt with dark jeans and a leather jacket. They looked like Keanu Reeves, as I'd noticed when they were first activated. "What is it? You're contemplating asking me something." They looked at me, not turning to face me. 'What do I call you? Like, I never asked, but what are your pronouns? I don't want to get them wrong, so I've just been defaulting to They/Them this whole time.' They turned to face me, the two of us continuing to walk toward Jeremy's house. "Well, I am taking the form of a masculine person, so I'd say He/Him pronouns would suffice. Though, you can continue to refer to me as They/Them if you'd like. It/It's, could also be used, as I am a product." I nodded, looking forward. I had the feeling I was about to bump into something. I was wrong. 'Okay. Seems cool.' My SQUIP  looked foreword as well. He had his arms behind his back all the time. He did look more professional that way. "That's the point. And you could just call me "Squip" instead of "The SQUIP" or "My SQUIP." The capitalization doesn't really matter much either." I merely hummed in response.
