Chapter 1 - Reggie Veggie Eggie

Reggie has been my best friend for two years now and I honestly don't even know how it happened. If he could spend all day playing video games and streaming he would be and well... he's not that sociable. I'm the opposite, I love parties and if I could I would go out every day, of course with people I like and in safe places, but even so, me and Reggie are still very different.

The history work was the best thing that could have happened to us at the beginning of 2020, mainly for me, because I was the new girl and he already had his friends (and also that is why I think at first he was pissed off , because the professor put us together, although nowadays he will never admit he wanted to kick me out of that chair hahaha).

After that work, we started to talk almost every day, we had a great connection and we laughed at everything when we were together and yeah... from then on I think we became kind of inseparable. It is a combo, if you want one, you will take both or at least your gossip will never be known by just one of the duo.

But everything is not a bed of roses, being best friends with a boy isn't always so easy. My mom may love him, but my dad will never, and I mean NEVER, stop distrusting Reggie. To him my dear best friend is just waiting for the cue to steal me from him. 🤌However, I know he loves the "Veggie", even though he teases him. In spite of that, sleeping at "Eggie's house" (yes, my father's nicknames are endless) is completely out of the question. Once he slept with me on the couch here at home, because we were watching a movie and we ended up sleeping... Result: He woke up being thrown into the pool 👍.

However, as I am also a child of God, there is a week in the year when we are released from Arthur The Super Protector and we are under Mama Aimee's wing. And this week is called: our birthdays. My birthday is September 25th and his is September 28th. And these dates are ours, this week is ours. We can do whatever we want, or nearly so. This week we can sleep in the same room, watch movies all night, he plays video games and I read, we can eat junk food until we say enough, go to parties (which I drag him to), buy the clothes we want (this part is more me too... but he keeps up well, he's evolving lol), take car rides for as many hours as we want... It seems like simple things, but it is not common to be able to do this on a daily basis and without some looks at us like "we're seeing you two huh".

Today is the 22nd and I'm packing up my stuff to take to Reggie's. I like to leave kind of a suitcase there, because next week we will both kind of throw everything into the air and decide what to do with life as the hours go by, so it is handy to have my basic stuff at his place. I don't know if Reggie will do the same, because last year he didn't and it was chaos, mainly because it was my dad's first week of "Free Sample From Hell" (that's what he calls our birthday week and I'm tired of trying to change the name).

The day our week really starts is on my birthday, which this year is exactly on Monday, so from the 25th to the 28th, everything is all ours. However, anxiety always takes over in these situations, so packing is the only thing I want to do at the moment. I play my Zayn Malik-dominated playlist and tidy things up like a bunny hopping around the room.

10:00 p.m.

I'm lying on my huge teddy bear on the bed and fiddling with my phone for a bit before turning off the light to sleep while Dhiren meows across the room when Reggie calls me.

R - My brother is here at home - He says while throwing himself in the chair.

- Damn... not even a hi. - He rolls his eyes. - Ok, but what's the problem with he being there?

R - He will be here at the same time you are here and you don't know him.
