The streets were roamed by a blood curdling creature. Every year starting the month of October he would take a girl away every day until Halloween, and on Halloween he would take three young girls. Nobody knew why he was always in such a bad mood, but there were rumors that he kept calling a name. One single name, over and over again. That name is Raya.
1 more minute till 3. I was waiting impatiently for the bell to ring. I looked over to Kiya and Octavia. They were waiting eagerly as well. Our eyes watched the clock as if we could control time. 20 more seconds, I thought to myself. And it rang. Finally it was the end of the school day. As soon as we heard the familiar sound of the bell, I gathered up all my belongings, scribbled down my homework and we rushed away, pushing everyone in front of us. When we finally made it out of school grounds, we stopped running to get a quick breather.
After a moment of silence Octavia spoke,
"Raya, I'm not trying to be nosy but I have a feeling that something is going on between you and Franklin. You're always talking about him and get over excited to see him everyday. It's kind of strange. I hate when you keep secrets from me and Kiya."
*A few weeks before*
"Everyone's been talking about that abandoned house in the forest. But everyone's to chicken to even come close to it," mentioned Octavia, one windy recess.
"Would you go?" questioned Kiya in her usual, calm voice.
"Of course I would but nobody would come with me."
I thought for a moment.
"I will." I said which really surprised Octavia since she thought I was always the "responsible one".
"Really?" She said still not able to believe me.
"Yeah!" I said again.
"If you guys go, I guess I will go as well, but when we go trick or treating you both owe me one king sized candy bar!" said Kiya with an excited voice.
So it was planned. After school, right away to the forest for the expedition which we called "Expedition house".
When the bell rang we gathered all our stuff. Octavia was packing up quickly while Kiya was taking her time. Probably scared. Once we were all packed up. We headed straight to the forest. The forest wasn't as dark as we imagined. But it was really foggy so we held on to each other. The damp leaves rustled under our feet. The wind ruffled our hair and the trees swayed as we made our way past a small river.
"Guys can we just go back, I don't care about the candy bars anymore." said Kiya in a hushed voice.
"Sorry Kiya there's no way we're going back when we made it this far, we'll be there in no time." replied Octavia to Kiyas entreat.
Octavia was right. In a couple of minutes we could already spot something in the distance. When we were finally at the steps of the house, Kiya asked for the second time.
"Are you guys sure about this? Is a selfie inside an abandoned house worth risking our lives?"
Octavia had enough of her pleadings.
"You shouldn't have come here with us if you keep wanting to go home! Stop all this nonsense! No ones going to die!"
She twisted the door knob and opened the door.
Kiya and I looked at each other, I shrugged my shoulders and followed Octavia into the cabin.
Everything was covered in dust. The floors creaked as we made our way through, Octavia took selfies while Kiya and I looked around. There were broken vases and spider webs everywhere. Octavia went upstairs while Kiya and I examined the kitchen closely. After we were done examining the kitchen, Kiya and I started talking about school stuff, and then we heard a high pitched scream which can only belong to the one and only Octavia. We rush up the creaky stairs ready for anything. We run to the room from which the scream came from and see something not even surprising but freaky. In front of us is Octavia and a boy.
