"Why is mom doing this to us?" I whined to my big sister, Courtney. She sat at the wheel, driving the car smoothly along the street.

"I don't know! She got divorced, and now has fallen in love with a man who she is now marrying," She stated calmly. "What else do you want me to say, Lulu?"

I sighed. "But Tony's a jerk," I whined again. "A really big jerk." I stared at her with my big green eyes.

"C'mon Lulu. Just drop it," she replied wearily. We were driving to the school's football field to watch her boyfriend Zach play. He was the schools' star, as well as the hearthrob, but he only had eyes for Courtney.

We arrived at the school's lot, kicking up gravel and pebbles as we did. We hopped out of the car and made our way to the field. As we trudged towards the bleachers, chatting about what we hoped would be a successful game, a red and white blur whizzed towards us, tackling Courtney.

It was Zach.

"Courtney!" he exclaimed, his face shining with excitment. I sighed, and looked away as he pulled her into a kiss. I felt a hand on my shoulder, and turned.

It was my best friend Ella.

"Hey, Ella!" I cried happily. We continued to walk towards the big green field.

"Hello, Lulu! So, I just found out that Nori and James broke up... again! It was like totally horrible! Apparently, he was calling her...." Ella started to talk, and then there was no stopping her. She was literally the gossip QUEEN. She could talk a mile a minute, and honestly, that definitely helped our friendship because I was NOT one to talk a lot.  "... and then they were fighting and now they are over! Like totally NOT COOL! You'd think they would learn after the first seven times, but no, of course not. Gosh!"

I laughed.

"What?" she asked quizzically. I laughed again.

"You are just a very fast talker!" I giggled. We reached the bleachers. Climbing up the stairs,  I scanned the crowd... and groaned. My mother was there just as she said she would be, but she also had Tony with her. I tried to slip into another row, but my mom caught sight of me and waved me over.

Sighing, I tugged Ella up the stairs. Plopping myself next to my mother I pasted a warm smile onto my face.

"Hi mom! Tony." I said, trying to keep the hate out of my voice. My mom smiled at me.

"Lulu, sweetie! Hi Ella," my mom said as well, leaning forward to smile at her.

"Hi  Mrs. Sice. How are you?" Ella asked poitely. Ella had a way with grownups. They all loved her.

"i am wonderful, Ella, thank you for asking," my mother said primly. That's when the game began.

It was pretty riveting, the game. I think. I wasn't really paying attention. I was too absorbed in my anger at Tony. He was the biggest jerk on the earth.

It also probably didn't help that I had no concept of how the game was supposed to be played, but I wasn' t gonna tell anyone that. Honestly, I just cheered when everyone else cheered, booed when everyone else did and clapped when they did. I didn't get the game AT ALL.

We made our way down the bleachers, when it had ended, me clutiching a bag of popcorn, Ella a chocolate bar and my mom, Tony's arm. Courtney was already on the field, kissing and congratulating Zach.

Pushing through the corwds we got to our cars and drove home. Courtney, unfortunatley, was not coming, so I had to drive home myself. I technically had only just gotten my drivers license- barely passed the test- and I wasn't really supposed to drive but I did anyways.

Pulling up to our drivway, I saw Tony's car already here. Oh Great, I thought. Just what I needed. I sat in the car, mentally preparing myself, then trudged up the many steps to our front door. Unlocking it, i heard my mom's tinkling laugh float to the front hall, and Tony's booming voice.

"Janie, I am completely honest!" I heard him saying, while my mom laughed. Angry, I charged into the kitchen where they were bustling around, making dinner. I hated when Tony came over. Hated, hated, hated it. But it made my mom happy so who was I to judge.

"Hey, Lulu!" said Tony, trying to sound happy, even thought I could see through the cheeriness. He was actually saying, You better not mess this up, or you will not live to see another day. I will make your life MISERABLE!

I pasted a cold smile on my face. "Hello Tony!" I said through gritted teeth.

"So," said my mother, completely oblivious to the icy exchange that had just occcured. "Me and tony have to tell you something. Actually, more like ask you something." my moher's eyes looked so hopeful, I wasn't sure what to expect. "Will you be one of the brides maids in the wedding?" she asked, her voice two octves higher than usual.

I was shocked. "What?? Of course!!" I squealed, running to my mom and giving her a huge hug. I had never been in a wedding before.

"Yay!" cried my mom. Tony tried to look thrilled, but it was harder for him to fake. I smiled at him warmly.

"I am so happy for you to be a bridesmaid," he said sweetly, the lie dripping from his mouth. "I just hope you don't mess it up, you pig," he hissed, so only I could hear.

I smiled even wider. "Thank you, for your kind words," I said, my tone clipped with curtness. "But I'm afraid that your "expensive cologne" that really actually smells like BO would ruin it first." I hissed so only he could hear. I smiled again, then skipped off.

Bring. It. On.
