The woman stops to look at her reflection in the decadent gold rimmed mirror. She sees an elegant lady in a blood red gown with cherry lips. Most of all, she sees the elaborate masquerade mask fitted with diamonds and other precious stones covering the upper half of her face. She smiles. She knows that her icy beauty will give the exact effect she is looking for.

She turns and begins her descent of the steps into the ballroom that is playing host to the sad excuse of a masquerade she is attending. As she glides down the staircase, a hush falls over the room as everyone turns to look at her. She smirks inwardly. She pauses, just to enhance the crowd's reaction. When she reaches the final step, people begin to turn back to their conversations.

She grabs a glass of bubbly champagne from a passing waiter and surveys the room. Men and women in masks mingling, laughing, dancing. She starts to look for her mark.

When she spots him, he is exactly where she thought he would be. Next to the wall to ceiling window that overlooks the Vienna skyline. She makes her way over to him and leans against the window. "Wonderful party, isn't it?" she murmurs to him. He smiles. "Yes, I suppose it is." he whispers back. "What's your name?" she asks. "Charles." he says with a smirk. "But you already knew that, right Agent Helena?"

She freezes. Too late, she notices the men in tuxedos making their way over. Too late, she turns to jump out the window. Too late, she hears the familiar sound of gunfire. Too late, she feels the blossom of pain that starts in her back and then burns through the rest of her body. Then, she blacks out.
