It felt blissful to feel the hot water casscading down upon my shoulders, the pressure and temperature of the water easing out a lot of the tension from within my shoulders. It had only been my first day here and I already had people telling me that what I was doing to help them was making not a small difference, but a huge one. After providing myself the much needed cleaning that I needed, I finished my shower quickly and wrapped the smaller towel around my hair before wrapping and securing the larger one around my body before grabbing my caddy so that I could make a dash for my room. Once through said door, I immediately shut it softly and give a glare at who I find lounging about on my bed.
"Hello there Princess, nice shower?" Blake gives me one of his signature smirks that he used on practically every female he saw back in college.
"When you said that you were going to visit, I shouldn't have assumed that it would be a normal visit." I sighed heavily as I made sure that my door was secure before walking past him to dig out some clothes for bed, "Why are you here and please tell me you came through my window with your wings out like that."
"No, I figured that flying up to your front door, knocking and then walking through the house up here with them out was the best idea." Blake responds with heavy sarcasm as he casually turns himself so that his back is to me when I finally find what I want to wear to bed, "Of course I came through the window and made sure that no one could hear us."
" I don't need your attitude tonight Blake. We both remember how you acted in college and how it gives me the right to make sure that you're being careful. And again I ask, why are you here?" I give his back a pointed look as I quickly shimmey my panties then my shorts up my legs while holding the towel around me firmly at that same time and then pulling on a tank top over my head as I let the towel fall to the floor for a moment.
"Did... did you really not know? About what you were." His questions came out softly, almost like he was afraid to ask them in the first place as I picked up the towel and hang it over the back of my new desk chair.
"I don't know if you'll remember, but back in college someone asked me about why I never had my folks come visit on all of the Parent events that they held... people were always so more understanding that your mother was always busy and didn't have time to come visit you, now I know that it's goes far beyond that." I start off slowly as I unwrap the second towel from my head so that I can carefully dry my hair enough for me to brush it, "I always told them the truth. I was found at a really young age wandering around somewhere, the only thing that they could understand from my young vocabulary was that I knew that my parents were gone. They still seached for them for days but never found anything, but it didn't stop many from trying to find them.
"I was placed into a several foster families, even a few group homes... and then I caught the attention of a couple who were looking to adopt a child, but they didn't want just any child. They wanted one that was smart, like gifted smart and for several years I was that exact child for them. My adoptive mother became pregnant around the time I turned fifteen, a baby boy was born after my sixteenth birthday and the night they were in the hospital during the delivery, I was at home having back pains from hell. I got my wings that night and spent all of the time from the moment they came bursting out up to when I heard them coming through the front door figuring out and practicing how to put them away and pull them out. When they brought my brother home... their expectations for me shifted drastically." I explained further as Blake got off of my bed only to come back with my hairbrush in hand, "I spent most nights up with him, letting my new parents sleep as much as they could and continuing to excel in my school work as well as any other tasks they provided for me so that I could remain an example for my younger brother. Something in mother snapped after my eighteenth birthday and with the impending date of me leaving for college... I was basically raising their son for them and I guess it scared mother to think that she was going to have to take care of him without me.
"My new father found her about to harm the toddler while he slept peacefully in his crib. I ran into the room when I heard him shouting at her, ran to the crib and picked my brother up to make sure that he was alright. Father tried to remove mother from the room, but she had one of the knives from the kitchen and when I had picked up my brother, the crazy in her eyes just got worse." I sat on the end of the bed, one leg on the bed the other dangling off the side as Blake took a similar position and started to gentle brush the tangles from my long hair while he listened carefully to my story, "She started to try to come after me because she felt like I was abandoning them when they needed me most... after she had been the one to encourage me to get into college in the first place. Father managed to restrain her, I dashed out of the room with my brother and started slamming doors shut as I went before silently making my way outside of the house. I was trying to confuse her in case she managed to get away from father. Thankfully they had a large safe in the office that only the family knew about and it had a silent alarm, put in the wrong code more than once and it would notify the police that some was trying to steal from the safe without making a sound.
"That's how I called for help. I didn't have my cell phone, she'd have tracked it with her own and she did try that. She'd have tried to use the house phone's location trick which would have put me and my brother both in danger, so I just entered in the wrong code about three times and then crawled out the window with my brother and hid in some shrubbery that overlooked the part of the house with a huge glass window-wall. I kept my brother from looking at the house, which was easy because he was still very tired and because what I saw horrified me."
I got quiet for a moment as I relived what happened within my head as if it were that night again, shivers of fear trailing down my spine for only a moment before I took a deep breath in order to calm myself.
"What happened?" Blake asked me after I let the breath go slowly a few moments later.
"She had made it past father, she hadn't killed him but she had some of his blood on her. She was searching the house for us kids and using any means to do so... when father came down the hallway into view of the room, she made her way back up the stairs to take her rage out on him for allowing me the time to get my brother out. He defended himself against that rage for a while, but he knew his limits and knew what his chances of survival were with the wounds that she gave him." I explained slowly, pain very evident within my voice, "He charged at her... at the railing behind her... I ran from our hiding spot as I watched her head slam against the ground, blood immediately began to pool under her. His neck bent at an odd angle as he slammed into the floor as well... when I got back into the house I ran over to him immediately, knowing that mother was very much dead and carefully checked for a pulse on father.
"I was relieved when I found one, weak but there... I had discovered my ability to use my own energy and that of things around me in order to help heal animals, plants and the people around me. I focused so that I was careful to not take any from my brother and then gave the energy I collected into father just before the cops busted the front door down. The head of our security team took one of the officers to retrieve the footage from the house, father was the overly cautious type so cameras practically everywhere were a must for him... it was an open shut case of him defending us kids from our mother who clearly had a mental break down, landing him in a coma and my brother into my care because I was eighteen and legally elligble to take care of him."
