No matter how many times I kicked the ball back and forth with Dan I still felt empty, like I had no one.
"I know it's rough, but you have to get through this Mitch," Dan said.
"It's not that easy," I said.
"I know, but it's been a month now," Dan answered. "And you still haven't gone back to school, she's gone and we can't change that." Dan continued. I got up and left the room, tears fell off my face but I didn't make a single noise. My mother died a month ago and I have been going through a really tough time. She was in a car crash and I saw it all, I was sitting in the back seat. Mom was on the phone talking to her boss when suddenly a car hit the driver's side. I haven't talked to anybody but my dad and the man at the coffee shop since then. I live in Los Angeles, California, and I'm 13. I have brown hair and blue eyes, I am 5ft 2. My father, Dan is always trying to help, but sometimes he gets to be a little much.
I opened the door and went outside. I got on my bike and started riding to the coffee shop. I don't necessarily always get coffee, but Nate, the guy that works there is really nice and I talk to him while he works.
"What's up Mitch?" He asked.
"Nothi---" But suddenly the air was knocked out of me and a fell to the floor, before I passed out I saw everyone else hit the floor. What's happening?!
I woke up a few hours later, and right when I woke up I saw everyone else getting up. I looked around and saw that we were in a building. There were about 100 of us in the building. I looked out the window and saw hundreds of other people in different buildings.
"What happened!" A guy shouted. Many others started to yell when suddenly a robot the size of a human came in and started to project a video on the wall. Everyone was suddenly quiet when they saw the video.
"If you are seeing this video, you must be very confused. There was a nuclear outbreak and the Los Angeles protection sequence started, you will be stuck in the city because we have built a dome that can stop anything, you must keep track of civilization and survive. There are lots of things in the city that can help you survive, good luck and goodbye." Then the video ended and we were left in confusion.
