I like this one. Lol Picture wise? This one took the least time of the initial three. Less than 30 minutes for sure. This one's issue was font because that can be tricky and also the letter quote. I changed letters at least 4 times. The letter quotes are supposed to tell a story across books. Book 1's "I love u" is really just innocent and honest, as the book is. Book 2 is a little more complicated so, "I love u. Please write, O(+>" is supposed to show distance created plus the introduction of it being signed as Taffy instead of P is another subliminal, right? So Book 3 naturally should pick up on that? I'd think so! Finding a message in a letter that fit how much of a hot ass mess Gold is was like trying to find out the price of tea in China.
And this is without mentioning how crossed around the letters are. So, the first letter quote on DMSR's cover is accurate. It was written to Neal in '85, picture in '86. Dope. OF4S has a 90s letter and sign off to Susannah. That threw my brain for a loop because I was like, "What sign off do I use for the actual 90s book then?" Because the name change isn't until Gold though the bullshit starts in OF4S, which ends in 1992. However, the message on Gold's cover is from like 1985, 1986 in a letter to Jackie Swanson! Do you see the dilemma? Then I considered downloading his letter to M1 and all looking at that did was make me nauseous because both of them are icky in more ways than one, even worse when put together. Waste of time.
So I settled on the way it was because there's no way Nelly would accept Book 3 P telling her to write... She was ripping up all of the letters. He knew better. Although the "I am very happy now and I hope u are 2" is a blatant sign of separation and '92 Nelly certainly did did leave him for dead so I thought that made perfect sense. Great fit then the double use of the symbol sign off ties it together, in my opinion. "I love u" being in Book 1 and Book 2 then the symbol sign off in Book 2 and Book 3 makes Book 2 become a bridge to me... Which I think is fairly accurate.

This one took like 5 minutes and I think it shows. First of all, I was out of Prince messages/letter (💀) so I took a caption approach with this one, going back to the scrapbook thing. So it's as if P were commenting on the photo. It's still his handwriting and I giggle to myself that it originally comes from a thank you letter to Eric. I mean, the pregnancy announcement, Sheila drama, the literal wedding? It was a lot going plus this is early 1997 P so we still get some cursing going on. And... Beyoncé for the win again! Lol
Oh, I was also pissed that my colors were out of order. I made Book 1's cover on impulse and green didn't look good with the background but it's always supposed to be as follows:
Book 1– Green for Nelly's growth and being the star. Book 2– Purple for Prince being the love interest. Book 3– Gold for obvious reasons. Book 4– Blue for both volumes... Just because.
Yet, somehow, with DMSR being purple... I kind of just started creating based on vibes? Somehow it became purple, blue, gold, then I got to the wedding special like what the hell do I do now? I did the waves cover before that one too so I was stuck. Red just... Happened, I guess. It's not a favorite but it's alright, y'know?

This was originally the pink background but with the pregnancy picture. Nelly did get knocked up back to back but I thought it was more versatile to show Paisley considering it's about more than the babies. Spent 5 minutes looking for the perfect Paisley picture. The thank you's are still P's handwriting and also from the letter to Eric. Lmao I used three thank you's for three children birthed because P literally wrote like 6 thank you's... Clearly the content of letters gets scarce after a while.
Well, there it is. Those are my new covers and I like most of them. I think the first three are pretty cool. I've been editing a lot of books lately. I'm editing the Prince books while finishing the DeVante Swing books, which is one hell of an experience alone. Nonetheless, enjoying myself because it feels a lot like I'm still writing the Prince books. The nostalgia is out of this world. I'll dive into that in another rant though. I only came here to show the new book covers. Bye. :)
