"Thank you Jotaro-San." You thanked him softly.
"I'm not older than you are." He says flatly, blowing out smoke from his nose while he spoke. Hands in his pockets too avoid having to hold his own cigarette.
"Well then what would you prefer I call you?" You shoot back with a questioning tone. You had never actually spoke his name to him before, you'd always just spoke without directly referring to him.
"Just Jotaro. I don't need any honorifics." He replies, raising one of his hands to flick the ever growing ash at the end of the paper protruding from his mouth.
"Alright fine then." You said plainly. It was after that the usual silence fell over the both of you for a few minutes. The smell of your cigarettes clouding the small amount of air around the both of you before the raindrops slipping off the awning cut through it abruptly.
"So how was your excursion last night." Jotaro spoke suddenly. He still wasn't looking at you, not even as you gazed up at him with a somewhat surprised look.
He must have been talking about the you'd gone too and posted pictures of.
"It was... fine. Nothing special. And definitely not the best party I've ever been to." You trailed your words awkwardly as you watched him toss his expired cigarette into the trash on the opposite side of the alley.
However before you could say anything else a loud cracking sound was heard from next to you. Jotaro had just stabbed what looked to be a pen into the bottom of a monster can, and the gas station bag was now obvious on the other side of him on the ground.
It was at that point he pulled the pen out from the aluminum hull, and held the van above his head. The sugary taurine laced liquid began to flow immediately, and his face didn't change as he drank every bit of it.
'I... holy shit.'
You'd never seen anything like it, and to be completely honest; you'd found it attractive. No real reason why, you just, did.
As the contents of the can finally ran out, he used his free hand to wipe his mouth. The hand holding the can crushing it with ease before tossing it aside into the same dumpster he'd tossed his smoke into.
"You should be more careful about where you go." His eyes met yours as he looked down at you. "You never know what kind of people are at those parties."
"I can handle myself just fine." You spoke almost offended.
"Oh really?" He asked, suddenly moving to stand in the middle of the alley. "Then why don't you prove it?"
It was from that point onwards that Jotaro became somewhat of a self defense teacher for you. Every day after school you'd go back to that same gas station spot, smoke a cigarette with him, and then promptly begin listening to him explain several different ways to get out of bad situations.
It was almost like he'd been through several of them, then again that wasn't really a surprise to you. Everyone knew that Jotaro was no stranger to beating people up, it happened so frequently that no one batted an eye when it did happen anymore.
When you'd asked about why he volunteered to teach you about these things, he simply stated it was because he believed everyone should be able to protect themselves. A very chivalrous thing to say for someone of his nature really.
However, one day after a particularly intense session as you lit your third cigarette and sat on the curb with him; you finally spoke.
"Can you teach me how to do that thing you did?"
He gazed at you curiously as he held his own cigarette, not even having lighted it yet.
"The thing you did with the can a few weeks back. I think it might be a fun party trick."
Instead of responding, he reached into the bag you both had picked up at the gas station before leaving earlier and pulled out two monsters.
"Alright, fine. Here." He handed one of the cans over to you, and reached into his pocket to pull out the same pen he'd used beforehand. You had to dig in your school bag for yours however. You then looked at him expectantly to demonstrate, which he did just as he'd done the weeks beforehand.
You watched him intently, trying to figure out exactly how to do it without managing to choke or spill any. And soon enough, the can was empty.
You then stabbed the bottom of the can with the pen, finding it much harder than you expected. However as you raised it up above your head and took the pen out, you realized it was much, much more difficult than you'd expected.
After about half of it, you began to choke, unable to keep up with the rushing liquid. You managed to turn the can upside down before you could spill anymore of it, and it was then you heard it.
Next to you; Jotaro was laughing.
It was almost disorienting to see really, but it made your face flush none the less. Over time; you'd begun to understand how Jotaro worked. He had emotions, he just wasn't good at expressing them whatsoever. He was actually quite kind under all the harsh words and rude behavior, and you'd begun to fall for the side of him it seemed you only got to see.
"Not as easy as it looks is it?" He asks, crushing the can with his hand once again.
"Well, I almost had it." You say with a somewhat embarrassed sigh.
"You'll get it eventually. It just takes practice." He responds.
"What else can you do you're not letting onto Jojo?" You asked almost jokingly, however his response wasn't what you expected.
"Just a few cigarette tricks."
"You can do cigarette tricks too?"
You moved to look at him, unable to hide the small amount of excitement in your voice. Jotaro began to explain, pretending he didn't notice. Little did you know; Jotaro had also began to develop an attachment to you. Every day he'd return home his mother would ask what he did that day, of course he said he'd just gone out with a friend. But his mother knew better, even though he'd always deny it. He'd begun to enjoy watching you try your hardest to continue the training he'd been giving you. He'd loved the subtle excitements you showed when you managed to land a hit, or when you saw an opportunity to do something "exciting" to which he'd found himself being the poor soul asked to take pictures.
However, somewhere deep down, under all the "Yare Yare"'s, and the "be careful" warnings;
He found it more endearing than anything else in the world.
((Will there be a part 2 to this? Idk. This is already too long and I don't want to burn myself out before I've even gotten started. Ciao boys.))
