Monster of Me, Christian Like You

Smoke clouds my head,

The dark in your eyes blindfolds mine.

As I lose my way, lost in your maze.

I’m ready to move on.

Those hateful words spark tears of regret,

Those mistakes I made anchor guilt in my voice.

But all you see is a monster of me

Who you can’t forgive for the downfall of a Christian like you.

The truth hurts more than old lies,

To know you hate me,

Everything I am you despise.

I’d rather go back to innocent charades and petty lies.

I tore us apart

But you keep us broken,

A family of glass shattered on the floor,

Our ruby red blood glints off the shards.

You can’t heal from the wounds I inflicted,

So every day I weep with the anger you pulsate.

But truthfully I can’t help but love you

Even though you’ll hate me for all of our bittersweet eternity.
