People all across Russia are waiting in anticipation
Why?
Alexandra Feodrovna, Tsarina of Russia was in labor with her fifth child
They all seemed to be thinking the same thing
Would it be a boy?
Finally at around noon they heard something...
The 101 gun shot salute, this could only mean one thing...
Russia had a fifth Grand Duchess

Of course it wasn't ideal for the Tsar and Tsarina, but they had another daughter. They named her Ekaterina, meaning pure and innocent.
Her sisters absolutely adored her, she had blonde hair and blue eyes. Her sisters didn't seem to care that she was a girl. Her parents did, but they still loved her.
In 1904, almost a year after Ekaterina was born, the Tsar and Tsarina finally got their boy. Sadly he had a terrible disease called hemophilia, inherited from his mother's side of the family.
Tragedy struck once again in 1908, when five year old Ekaterina contracted tuberculosis, she had to live with it from then on. There was no cure...
